Ladies and gentleman, let me offer a new perspective, which has occured to me of late.

Perhaps the IT market has had a massive readjustment in order to align with everything else.

I.e. Why should a developer get paid more than a building surveyor or lawyer?

Is it anymore difficult, probably not. Are people's lives at risk? Not at all, unless it's RTC or defence.

Why do companies such as apple, Google, Microsoft, not require £500pd developers? And if they can do without them, then surely so can other enterprises?

Market does not need UKC.Ltd, seems to be getting on fine without us.

Why would you need SC to work for a bank?

Exactly you dont' they do not bother with SC's they let the outsourcer assume the risk!

If a business outsources, it's a business decision.
Where's the deception?

Let me educate you a little............for many years outsourcers have worked onshore in the UK skirting around rules about who should be hired simply bypassing all this red tape to ONLY hire from their existing highly exploitable pool of staff......most of which happen to be based outside the UK............!

If you or anyone else did not know about this deception then there is little hope for you tbh

Even if it has ended, it was a very good market for several decades if you had the right skills, plus I am not convinced it is much better trying to find a permanent role at the moment and it isn’t much better for a lot of other white collar workers.

Not to say off shoring hasn’t taken work from us, because it blatantly has, but it is one amongst several reasons at the moment.

i would have a stab that the consultancies are not doing as well as they would like in the current economy.

Yeah, it's definitely slow right now. I'm seeing way fewer opportunities than usual, and the ones that do pop up are either lower-paying or super competitive. Feels like a mix of companies tightening budgets and just less movement in general. Hopefully, things pick up in the next few months, but yeah, not the best time to be looking.

It's all or nothing for me. One day nothing, next day, hope.

Had a 20 min conversation with another 'real agent' today and the one looks promising. Decent agent as well, one of the few professionals. Fingers crossed. Also he did say that the clients that he services are trying to get their contractors in now before the rush (the coming weeks when the NI comes in and tomorrow when more announcements are made) for fear of losing out on the best talent. I believe him, and it echos what I'm seeing 'every other day'.

No one gives a tulip about talent, it's a race to the bottom with cost.

Contractors need to get out of the mindset that they are the finest most indispensable experts available.

Because they pay their developers more than that as a perm salary.

Can only speak for myself but I have never thought that. I think I am really good at what I do and offer a service in the right set of circumstances to a client but it doesn’t make me the best thing since sliced bread.

I have never heard of Amazon or Google bringing in Contractors. I had an interview once with Microsoft in Reading for a contract but that was years ago.

it isn’t in their business models.
