Recruitment agents certainly must be quite bored and worried right now. The last few I spoke to all said 2024 was their worst year ever. I was kind enough to withold my opinions on how 2025 is going to work out, I even hope I am wrong!

Has anyone bothered to get verified? You need to upload your passport which am not keen to do as I was a victim of identity fraud many moons ago so am super careful now....

So much rubbish on LI nowadays it used to be a serious website but it has become like FB

I did but only because it was quite easy to do via the app on the phone.

Not sure it has actually made much difference.

My early impressions are it is more of the same, personally including two consultancies talking to me about opportunities that evaporated. Thinking about it I can’t tell you the last time I talked to an agent as opposed to a consultancy looking for some external help.

Back to looking myself, had a few calls from agents all sounding hopeful that 2025 is going to be the bounce back year. I just tried to sound enthusiastic so they don't lose all hope. Someone said before, far too many on the bench fighting for the 1 or 2 roles that do come up. Feels like this bench session might be a long haul flight

Spoken to several agents since last week. It's still quiet although they are slightly more optimistic than in 2024.

Private equity activity seems to be picking up a little bit and the insurance sector still appears to be having more roles than most.

Other than that, not much specific cause for optimism.

Based on this time last year, I'm expecting not much to happen till April.

Hahah kind of what I was thinking too - doubt it'll extend beyond that even though there is work to do ...... suspect it'll be finished off by perms some of whom are scratching around for work.

Soon be time to put LinkedIn to the test again. Hmmm.

Hang in there. I was in the same situation for most of last year, and hoped to keep going for at least another 6 months. Would have stuck with it but got terminated start of Nov.
