I can't - to me it's a non issue (as you know) not heard any updates in the CC meetings I've attended lately but I may have nodded off

But if you pop over to Ipse forums and ask the question politely in governance raising your concerns , I'm sure a BOD/Staff will be along to give you an official answer (even if Ipse are doing nothing on it) and if you are not happy with the reply, please raise your concerns and possible action plan to address

Just looked at IPSE. The site looks very bland, corporate and the first thing you see is an invitation to win a free iPad. Not exactly the buccaneering spirit, is it. There are 4 heads at the top (models?) advertising the fact that professional engineers all wear fleeces. Half way down, IPSE is defending the doctors now revealed as charging the NHS £1760 per day. I don't want that defended, I want it stopped.

      okay, where are those tablets...
Funny all the cc meetings I've attended everyone appears to be contractors, programmers , test managers like you

Never met any insurance salesman yet at a meeting - just contractors

Ohh and the CC don't get paid

Perhaps the level of professionalism isn't always there precisely because it's run by contractors; having a ragtag group of people that care, but don't always have the necessary insight or discipline, is a double-edged sword. You also raise an important point about the election process; everyone here that has expressed skepticism about how IPSE is currently run needs to get involved in that process (by voting if not standing).

          Faq and tractor should stand.

          I'd vote for them.

They're not actually paying the doctors that, they're paying the umbrella agency they work through.

And work out the true cost of employment of a permie doctor at the necessary grade to work unsupervised in A&E on a shift rotation and it won't be all that much different.

I've thought quite seriously about joining to stand, or at least vote and engage on the forum, but I simply can't bring myself to fund or lend a mandate to the intense arrogance, ignorance and private agendas that I've seen from IPSE/PCG over the years.

<pedant>Until the governance changes, certain members of the CC did get paid, by virtue of being on the board. And you get expenses paid, no? Which hotel was it that you stayed at for the last meeting?</pedant>

I haven't decided - I have a document on my computer at the moment which has some thoughts which could go towards a candidate statement. In the past, I've always considered that I wasn't involved enough to be seen as a representative member, but now that I've seen the involvement that some CC members have on the IPSE forums, even my seven years of studied somnolence pales into insignificance compared with the public utterances of certain CC members.

At the moment, I'm more inclined to stand than not, but I haven't had chance to think enough of it through as yet. There's plenty of time yet.
