I don't think you know what a sockie is.

Anyway, you asked for advice and, as I have experience of Three, I freely gave you the benefit of my experience.

As I said further back the thread, I've been with them for 5 years as a business customer without any problems. Maybe I just know how to run a business and you don't?

Vodafone's business rates used to all but write of any potential savings of putting your phone through the company so just wasn't worth doing. Dunno if this is still the case.

Remember you are only saving 20% or so. The phone isn't free just because it's through the business.

With virgin media doing unlimited calls, texts and 1GB data for £12 per month SIM only if you take other services it might be cheaper to pay for this personally.

When I asked my accountant about putting a hone through my company, she said I could do it as long as I 'keep my personal calls to a minimum'. Considering 99.99999% of my phone's use will be personal related, I've decided to revert to original policy of keep my proverbial nose clean and not abuse expenses. Therefore, I have cancelled my phone contract, returned my 'business-bought' phone and have ordered a one in my own name.

You questioned my sincerity by saying that claiming the information given to me by Three re business contracts wasn't true, and speculated I was a sockie. I was merely defending myself from an accusation that's been levelled at me many times on this forum.

The bold bit does indicate that as a business expense you would be pushing your luck.

The approach I use (in my case 99% of my calls are business not personal) is to simply have the business name in the address on a standard personal type account, I've used the approach for some time, the accountant likes it and Orange now EE don't cause me hassle over it.

I have my business name as the first line of the address with Three (and they made a right pigs ear of that, but it's just about legible). And pay direct debit from company account.

Not to save money on the contract - to justify the handset cost as a legitimate business expense. Keeps everything consistent.

If it's in the company name, personal use is irrelevant. Companies can provide employees with one phone for mixed use, no questions ask. Only if you have multiple phones do the others need to be wholly and exclusively for business purposes.

You don't need a business contract to justify the cost of the handset. See above. One phone can be provided for both personal and business use.

I'm sure, in the grand scheme of things, there are other, more important things to worry about than whether a phone contract is in co. name, or personal name, & whether you're ok to claim it, & call charges, as exps. If you get it wrong, then I'm sure someone will say 'pay it back', or whatever, as & when the error is discovered...if that were to ever happen, of course.
