Trade in goods between Germany and Great Britain did grow between January and October, but at a slower rate than overall German trade. In addition, the Czech Republic has a significant lead over Britain in trade, so it will be almost impossible to catch up in November and December, GTAI said.

"The slow development of German-UK foreign trade is not a new trend," the GTAI report pointed out. Since 2017, the first full year since the Brexit referendum, Britain's importance has steadily declined. At the time, it was Germany's fifth most important trading partner.
