Deal with Turkey

UK agrees a trade deal with Turkey soon but like every other trade deal that Truss has trumpeted, it is just a rollover of the existing deal that the UK had with Turkey as a member of the EU, apart from a couple of differences. This one has to be renegotiated again in 2 years and:

The deal seeks to replicate the trading terms that currently exist between the UK and Turkey, with tariff-free trade on all non-agricultural goods, according to British officials. The UK has also agreed to roll over the preferential tariffs that Turkey enjoys on some agricultural products under its customs union with the EU.

Remember this bollocks, maybe in 2 years after further discussions, the UK might instead be having freedom of movement with Turkey, now that would be funny...

So given a choice of a three year debate to create a wholly new trade agreement or a simple re-launch of the one we already had with a few changes around sovereignty and legislative basis, which would you way was the better choice? And you do realise there's about £18bn of trade involved?

So if it's exactly the same then those constraints from the EU are there as well or maybe there weren't any constraints from the EU and that is just a myth propagated by Leavers which wouldn't be a surprise
