I am not sweeping them under the carpet just challenging the assurance that the deaths were intentional or due to malice.

If you have a bleeding heart then give away your fortune so those less fortunate can live in luxury - yeah I thought not.
Most modern Germans, like most modern Brits, are ashamed of what our ancestors did. We can't change what they did, but we should learn from this to ensure that it doesn't happen again in our names. There are still germans today, as there are Brits today, who are right wing nationalists that deny that what their ancestors did was wrong because they believe that they are superior to other certain nationalities. You are, I'm afraid, showing traits of nationalism.

    Don't confuse patriotism with nationalism.

Don't forget that despite where someone was lucky to be born on this planet, we are all humans and deserve a chance of a certain standard of life. This is not being a 'liberal', as you put it, this is simply being a compassionate human.

Try seeing everyone as a human, and maybe you'll see the world differently.

I am British and I am not ashamed of what my ancestors did.

I am also not a right wing nationalist.

Whilst the I will agree that in some British colonies there was a certain amount of suppressing the natives pretty much all the colonies are now in a much better state than prior to the British arriving - why I was only watching yesterday about the huge positive impact the Railways had in India (and also parts of Africa).

The germans gassed 6 million jews.

I think really there needs to be a little but of a sense check on understand the differences.

I guess you weren't watching where there was a certain amount of preventable starving the natives to death. Fifty five million in India.

If you can be proud of that, then you are some wierd bloke.

In your opinion and without taking account of all the facts yes you cold say that.

Cannot see a 55 million one.

But the fact you are trying to compare English colonisation of India with the rounding up and gassing of 6 million innocent men, women and children tells me that you really have been blinded by the EU propaganda.

No one's comparing the 2 things.
Your argument is a bit like an armed robber who's committed GBH saying: "At least I'm not a murderer, so I'm innocent".

Oh and I don't believe there's been any EU "propaganda" about India. Not that I've seen at least. But you're a typical Brextulipter so you'll make it up, won't you?
                      Hard Brexit now!
