Oh look, American, Dutch or British chickens..... which shall I buy?

Or, it's unnecessary in the EU to chlorine-wash chickens, because the hygiene standards for raising the poultry are set far higher than in the US. (Fact, not speculation, not reaction)
If the EU were to relax their hygiene standards then they would have to look at other ways to deal with contamination.

...but your version suits the Brexit viewpoint better, so maybe ignore the relevant facts and just stick to wording partial stories to make it seem like it supports your weak argument.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

So do you think the competition will sit on their hands, you don't think they'll adopt the same practices as American farmers.

I'll spell it out, if chlorine washing is legal every chicken will be chlorine washed regardless of where it comes from.

          It certainly won't be labelled.

            So you have a choice

If you want to buy a free range chicken which has not been washed in chlorine - go for it because I do not care what you say there will still be enough people rearing chickens for this to be viable.

If you want to by cheap chicken nuggets for the kids then the chicken in them may have been washed in chlorine - but then once they have been coated in stuff and deep fried I am pretty sure all will be fine with them.

But thats the problem nowadays everything is black or white - it is either right or wrong - and if we have differing opinions you will never accept me having anything other than exactly the same opinion as you - as everything else you will see as 'wrong' and will need to be changed.

And as we know only Sith's deal in absolutes.

Awww diddums, changing the goal posts eh?

No, they will continue to ensure British produce has the tractor sign etc, ensuring good conditions - which will be a badge of honour, compared to American produce - so sorry to disappoint your weird ideas.

Will they? Have they said that? I think you will find that with this government, the goalposts are more likely to move

                Unless you mean another 'they'...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

So why have food standards at all? Let people decide with their wallets who's product will survive on the open market...

The problem is that once such low standard = low cost foods are allowed in the market, it will destroy the local production. Even if the foods standards for the UK farmers are immediately lowered, they have already invested in equipment, processes etc. to follow the now existing higher standards, likely via bank loans that need repaying. So they become non-competitive in their home market.

Also regardless if you want to buy it or not you will end up buying it through restaurants and processed meat products which usually go for the cheapest possible source.

The problem is not with the chlorine or the chlorinating process, it's with the other processes that come before it - which are neglecting hygiene, solely relying on the chlorinating process to "take care of business".

Americans aren't stupid, when it's up for sale in a British supermarket it will simply have a "Tesco Chicken" label.

Do you seriously believe that the Americans will do a deal in chickens and have no one buy them, because everyone will avoid buying US chickens. They'll sue the sh*t out of any Supermarket that doesn't stick their chickens prominently on the shelves with some misleading label about them being bred in Wiltshire.

You'll get used to coughing your guts up after a chicken casserole.

Crystal ball gazing again are you?

Yes, let's not use the obviously higher standards as the major selling point difference between American & British chickens
