Gotta love Brexiters, fishing is < 1% of the British economy.
I'm pretty sure JRM and his nanny don't give a fook about fishermen, but as Trump has shown, minor issues like the fishing one can be manipulated to get some faux outrage going and get the mince who can't do numbers or analysis (e.g. SB, DP, OPM etc.) frothing at the mouth.

Played like a fiddle and they don't even know it.

    Hard Brexit now!

I think you'll find that based on the current negotiating team and Brexit supporters, fishing is going to account for >50% of the British economy without increasing the amount of fishing that is actually done.

Good to see Nigel there, after he did so much for the industry during his time as an MEP on the EU Fisheries Committee.

The one that debated many of the rules now in place.

The one where he attended 1 meeting out of 42 during his time and didn't vote once on any of the measures being put in place, let alone voting against them.

He probably did not attend because he knew there was no fookin point as the EU will do whatever the fook they want anyway.

Do we get to start shooting foreign boats out of our waters after 21 months then?

In any case, who do you plan to export the fish to?

Why can I not eat fish myself?

But well we can export them to whoever we want to - that's kind of the point?

That's not how the EU works.

There are ways of convincing countries that what is bad for us is bad for them but if you don't bother building bridges with MEPs in your coalition group in other countries, then as an MEP you are fecked.

He failed to attend any meetings of the influential fisheries committee between February 2010 and December 2012, when he turned up to vote on the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy.

One MEP on the committee said: “For three hours during the morning he sat, looking somewhat bemused, as we ploughed through hundreds of amendments. He voted for or against some and abstained on many.”

Mr Farage did not attend the final vote on how much of the catch fishermen should throw away, despite having described the policy previously as “shameful”.

Had he actually made the effort and argued his case he may actually have persuaded others to vote against it or been able to introduce amendments in favor of the UK.

He probably didn't because he was too busy fiddling the books.
