              The ship hasn't yet hit the iceberg, the passengers have jumped ship because they're worried that if there are any icebergs the ship might hit one.

              Currently they're are sitting in leaky lifeboats watching the ship about to turn and come thundering towards them.

                The ship we are talking about has no intention whatsoever of doing an about turn. In fact they are probably scouring the horizon for additional icebergs, just in case the first one they smash aimlessly into doesn't do sufficient damage.
