I received a copy of this via my MP this morning too. Word for word the same (missing the blah blahs obviously).

I think my MP has been pulled into line as he no longer expresses things in his own words.

Bit strange that I got this one today when I sent him the latest letter yesterday.

I think that Gauke is bored of answering our questions (perhaps because he cant?) and wants to leave it to Tax Tribunals, and I think that some MPs are also losing the will/brainpower to digest S58 discrepancies.

So first they have to leave it to the Judicial Review - then to the tax tribunal. Do these guys do everything HMRC tell them to?

I have no doubt that each and every tax tribunal(all 1900 of them) will be totally rigged. I intend to conduct my own defence - and my first witness will be Brannigan.

Rigged maybe not but government propoganda has a tendancy to rub off even in the courts... as we already experienced. I reckon our best result from tribunals is that they recognise the law changed and interest cannot be charged because the tax was not previously due.

Gaukes door was never open in the first place. Its up to NTRT to prise it open. The latest letter writing combined with ombudsman complaint is designed to do just that.

I was on Sky News section this morning and my eye caught this programme on BBC Parliament

I watched the last 40 minutes of the show and it looked like to me that it was purely a group of MP's grilling HMRC on their code of practices and in effect handling of tax cases and avoidance.

Specific points of interest that I caught were the dealings with Goldmans and their tax settlement.
In addition they were chatting about avoidance schemes and what the revenue was doing off the back of the Panorama TV show.

Now whether a committee who are wanting to crack down on tax avoidance are the best people to deal with, is a question to be asked. However we all are fine with the closing down of tax avoidance schemes. It's a case of us being treated differently from every other scheme by HMRC that needs to be interrogated.

The lead of this committee was Margaret Hodge, and some other MP's that I liked their line of questioning were Nick Smith Labour Gwent, and Richard Bacon Norfolk South.

Any thoughts on whether we highlight our case to this committee who seemingly have the power to haul in HMRC and ask them to explain their actions??

Fake Paypal Messages

Dear all

I've been alerted by one of our members that he has received a fake Paypal email, along the lines of resolving a problem with his account.

There is no reference to NTRT in the message, but just a quick reminder when replying to Paypal emails, ensure that you are directed to the genuine Paypal.co.uk website and not something else.

If you hover over a link in the email, you will usually see the real address that you are about to be directed to. Or better still, delete the email and visit the genuine website before supplying any details.

Timescales - Any ideas?

As we stand today does anyone have any idea on the timescales we can expect to be dragged to court in and given to settle?

I have a fixed term policy about to come to term and I am wandering if it is worth re-investing into another fixed term policy, it would need to me a min of 1yr to make it worthwhile.

I have a small CT already and could put the cash in there but it just grinds with me having to lodge funds with them 'just in case' and given they will only pay 1% I'd rather take my chances elsewhere.
