Excellent - this is more like it. I knew that if someone just scratched beneath the surface the true hypocrisy of Gauke would be unearthed. Time for a campaign to get him removed from office due his morally repugnant actions?

Unfortunately I have to agree - the vast majority of the population don't seem interested in anything that doesn't directly affect them - X-Factor excepted. As long as they can have what the guy next door's got, they're happy enough.

I must admit to being extremely disappointed with the Tory take on all of this - and indeed the Lib Dem's for that matter. After all they said from opposition - such an about turn isn't really on, regardless of the need for austerity and all that. That said, the coalition have U-turned on a number of issues during the 2 years or so they've been in power, and I lack the impression that there's any strong ideological spine running down the back of this "wholly artificial creation, designed, as far as I can see, purely to avoid being in opposition". I think people see that weakness, and unless something pretty major occurs between now and then I predict a return to power of Labour at the next General Election. From there we can look forward to IR35(2), and BN66++.
The Tories & LibDems will of course voice strong opposition at the time, until they eventually return to power themselves, when the Civil Service will re-program them to "see sense".

How depressing. Anyway, on a happier note, did anyone see Superstar at the weekend...?
