What MP next step?

Whats MP next steps to all those letters?

I've finally got a CN (for 2007/8). Now I'm really one of the gang I thought it interesting that HMRC gave me 30 days to pay or appeal but sent the letter second class so that only leaves me 3 weeks and within that is a long bank holiday weekend. I've sent the CN to MP for them to appeal.

I'm still waiting for a reply from Gauke to my second letter, the one I sent ripping into his first letter by quoting his own arguments from 2008.

I have received a few more like this:

They seem to fall into 2 camps:

1) people who didn't make a DTA claim in the year in question
2) people who did make a DTA claim

Obviously category (2) are more interesting but just send me them anyway.

God knows. Maybe they were just sending them out randomly.

I don't know if it is significant but all the ones I've seen so far were dated March 2006, and this was just before the investigation was moved from Liverpool to Manchester.

For whatever reason, it appears they opened enquiries into years where the scheme hadn't actually been used.

As to why they closed years where the scheme had been used, that's also a mystery.

So all we can say really is that the only consistency that HMRC have exhibited is inconsistency
