    MP Feedback

Just had feedback from my Conservative MP that he will be talking to other MP's and specifically Steve Baker.

    Comment

      contact MP?

my MP (Mark Prisk) initially responded to my emails - but just gave the 'Gaukian' response, the last couple of emails (sent a few months back) he's just ignored.

NTRT imply not contacting MP if he's been hostile - is my understanding correct or is there anything I can do?
      Thanks

        Latest reply from Mark Menzies

Just received a 6 page rebuttal from Gauke.

He implies that I've basically been involved in a wholly artificial tax avoidance scheme and that HMRC told me so for years.

        Disgusted.

Same ole same ole. It doesnt even make me feel sick any more! One of those points is wrong and political nonsense which is and has been easily rebutted. The other is an outright lie. These are the best he (or whoever rights these replies) can come up with and the reason support is growing for the amendment.

Well done for keeping on lucozade! Keep going people. A week to go before amendment is debated.

My reply was simple - why was the scheme I was in considered wholly artificial compared with the ones used by Google, Amazon, Facebook and Starbucks.

My tenant has informed me yesterday that a letter has turned up from the House of Commons. Not read it yet but expecting it to be a rebutal of the similar ilk. I'll call today to confirm it's content and Mr. Afriyie's position - if poss, ahead of it's arrival.

Looks like no mercy in the Windsor - at the moment.

How come our tax planning is described by the likes of Gauke as 'wholly artificial' as opposed to Google's which is only 'highly contrived'?

One question I'd like to hear answered in the forthcoming debate from those opposed to the amendment is are they prepared to use the same retrospective tax measures against the multinationals that they have so vociferously supported to crush 2-3000 small British businesses? And if not, why not?

Not only that Mr Osbourne went to bat for Vodaphone in India when they wanted to impose a retrospective tax
Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

Also how can a party (tory) and individuals (Gauke) opposite S58 in 2008 and then defend so vigorously since coming into power. I think I will be tweeting quotes of the debate from 2008 to various Finance Bill Committee members to remind Gauke how he as an individual spoke in 2008.

Because when he retires and becomes an external consultant there is a chance Google will pay him a large sum of money and zero chance 2000-3000 small businesses will.

Our country doesn't like bribes. It does however let possible long term benefits go unpunished.
