Can't disclose more pending further fraud charges. However, there's a clear bank verified paper trail so going to stick with "yes" on this one. I don't realistically expect to get anything back but nice to have it on a formal record somewhere for that warm fuzzy feeling on cold winter nights. Okay, it's really just barely better than nothing.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostWas that legally owing you money?
If it was owing you money legally then you go on the list of creditors who will see nothing if there is anything left, as other larger creditors tend to have more rights then you.Comment

Fees
They're probably shaking trees to see what they can get for their fees. If paid as going along through the monthly payments, can't see why they'd be requesting fees from former clients!Originally posted by Bumfluff View PostHas anyone else recieved a letter from the upton insolvency people asking for a years fees they think you owe ? Im sure i dont infact uptons owe me ! Will the insolvency people listen to me or will they just want there $ ?Comment

I wonder if they've repossessed his shiny new Bentley that was parked outside his offices last year as part of the repayments, on a more serious note, can anyone recommend an accountant in the Yorkshire area? Some people are like slinkys, totally pointless but the thought of pushing them down a flight of stairs never fails to put a smile on your face.Comment

Any update on this? I do think the PCG need to look at their PSL. Currently all you need to do to get on it is to go one of their courses.Originally posted by cojak View PostIf you're a member of the PCG contact their legal hotline for help on this, since Uptons were on their PSL I'd at least expect them to take a bit of interest in this turn of events.P.S. What Spreadsheet? Revolutionising the contracting market again.Comment

Don't think they are any more but will get it checkedOriginally posted by simonsjdaccountancy View PostAny update on this? I do think the PCG need to look at their PSL. Currently all you need to do to get on it is to go one of their courses.
However, as you are well aware...
PCG leave it to the relevant professional bodies to police their members, all they are saying is that this practice understands the various specific niceties of freelancing.. So the actual question is why does Upton/Freedom's accreditor allow them to continue to practice? Would you want to deal with an accountant who has made his own business bankrupt? Caveat vendor...?PCG Accredited Accountant practices have undertaken additional training and accreditation in tax matters of particular importance to freelance workers. This accreditation does not assess their general standards of service, and does not have any bearing on their professional qualificationsBlog? What blog...?

Haven't seen any evidence that Freedom Accountancy is accredited at all though.Originally posted by malvolio View PostSo the actual question is why does Upton/Freedom's accreditor allow them to continue to practice? Accs
Considering they're of different ownership, staff, etc don't see why not. I've recently joined Tina and found her new company to be very friendly and efficient.Originally posted by malvolio View PostSo the actual question is why does Upton/Freedom's accreditor allow them to continue to practice? One of my colleagues used to be with Darren's old firm but dealt with one of the staff who didn't receive good reports.
Personally not affected by what went on with Upton & Co but given there's no involvement with any of the previous lot, have no hesitation in recommending Tina/Freedom, nice to be receiving a personal service that didn't receive elsewhere.Comment
