OK, fine. I assume they have a chartered accountant in there somewhere but are they accredited by any of the relevant professional bodies?

Incidentally, I did check, Uptons weren't ever PCG Accredited and Freedom haven't yet applied to be.
    Blog? What blog...?

More important in my view. Has the man been jailed yet?

Don't think so, press would be jumping on it if had.

If she had, would have been charged by now which isn't the case. Given the service and responses have been very good so far, perfectly happy to recommend.

You have got to be kidding? More than one person has reported that no accounts are being completed, even though money was paid in advance to Upton & Co unless you transfer to Freedom Accountancy. Duress anyone? No connection? This was going on when Tina "took over" Upton & Co before it going into liquidation. Tina refuses to answer any questions about client funds going missing. Oh yes, she has to wait for the court case. Yes and no. There's nothing stopping her from gaining some goodwill by addressing the problems IF she wanted to. Clearly she does not therefore I have to question her ethics.

Does Freedom Accountancy have the necessary accreditation and insurance to operate? Upton & Co did not. It's also a very young company so if anything went wrong what recourse (ie. Financial compensation) to clients have if anything goes wrong?

It's frankly naive to think that the problems at Upton & Co are mutually exclusive to Freedom Accountancy given the very DIRECT connection between the companies.

Am I biased? Of course, but I also have hard evidence to back up by opinions (bank statements and emails).

EDIT: For the record none of the above is part of the case, atleast as far as my witness statements are concerned against Darren Upton. These are merely other pieces of information.

Darren is due back in court to face further criminal charges (although plea will follow later) at the start of December. He's still out on conditional bail as far as I know.

A counter thought might be that since the matter is sub judice any comment of any description given her relationship with the accused could very easily be contempt of court.

I can't understand why he'd be so greedy anyway. I know from experience as I'm sure anyone who's read simonsjd's book will too, that a very good living can be made from being a contractor accountant. Conservatively, I reckon £500 per year per client is profit (based on a monthly fee of £80 + VAT). How many clients did Upton have at its peak? 1,000 maybe? That's half-a-million profit per year. Is that not enough?

From your previous posts I see you're one of those affected by Upton & Co. I pay my money so take my chances, personally I've no beef with Tina and the new staff. The new company are insured, made sure of it.

Naive...how can she talk about the case! As for taking on the work of another company....would you!? She'd probably be unable to take on that much work unpaid, wouldn't do it myself unless was taking on a further work which would be paid for. I see others have offered this as well.

Just offering up my experiences from an unbiased point of view.

The contact address on their website has been changed accordingly as well.
Yes I see what they've done there.

Have to look very hard to get past the obfuscation but I managed it eventually.

If it wasn't for your very cunning research this change would have been invisible to mere mortals. Well done.
