Click on the ebanking link on the main page displays the page where you start the 'upgrade' process (but if you try and log in here once you've changed over, you'll have issues. Perhaps this is why many still cannot log in?)

Instead on this screen, they now have "Personal Id: If you have recently set up your New Personal ID please click here to log on" which takes you to another screen where it all (should) work.
Exactly - that's exactly what happened to me. I was trying to log in using the wrong Abbey website - silly me :-/ . Anyway, the nice lady directed me to the right one, and said I'd be able to login with the new Personal Id. Which I had never been given - so she gave it to me - and everything finally seems fine.

Anyway, what's this about £300 I've been reading here?

Check your Abbey accounts. Mine has a mysterious new transaction appeared:

      16 Dec 08 EX-GRATIA PAYMENT 25.00

If that's supposed to be Abbey's "apology" payment, they can think again. I've wasted about £500 + VAT of time on trying to deal with their fiasco.

If it's not Abbey's "apology/appeasement" payment, then what is it doing on my account...?

        Same issue for me

I have the same problem. They have linked two previuosly separate business accounts under the same Personal ID number.
I never asked them to do this - they just did it. I am waiting for my second set of reg numbers and passcodes as it all got screwed up again.

I will then try to unlink the 2 business accounts. Separate companies - so why the hell would I want them linked like this??

They also have to issue me with a debit card (7 day wait). I already have an Electron card for drawing out cash or paying in cheques but apparently if I do not have a debit card I cannot now make payments online. What madness is this? I am thinking of moving to FSB Co-op bank unless this is sorted very soon.

Yes, what is this? Is it perhaps a Super Sorry Payment? I remain optimistic...

My account now works. Everything seems in order and I can move money between accounts OK.

But.............. It doesn't seem to work with FF3.0.4. I used IE7 with the security settings as advised by Microsoft after yesterdays security alert......... and........ Guess what?

I had to reduce the security settings back down again before IE7 would log into the website.

              Ho hum.

Well I've been emptying my account quicker than a seagull can empty its bowels all over your newly washed car and there's no sign of any £300 or even £25 ex gratia payment!

Writing a very irate letter to them on Friday as NO ONE has phoned me back from India or even glasgow!

Got the FSB Business Banking applications through so will complete those over the weekend and feck abbey off.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

The £25 is their apology yes, I agree for the grief that Abbey customers have been through it's derisory.

To put it in context I got a £25 ex gratia payment from my bank for them cocking up a payment to one of my credit cards, compared to the hassle that Abbey customers have suffered it was a very trivial matter.

jownboywiltshire, I phoned re the same personal ID and they said it was right, I suppose "personal ID" does suggest that. But then if it was expecting the same ID for the other account too why did it appear to be wanting registration on the 2nd? Have not acted on their letters yet, not feeling calm enough if it screws up.

Mine worked OK despite my pessimism. Go on, be a devil, try it.
