Brillo has got the document but from what he's told me it wasn't a simple 30%. I'm sure we will get the details soon.

Has this 2001 fact been raised as part of the JR? I know DR mentioned nothing being mentioned since 2004, but 2001 makes it sound even worse. Of course the judge or whichever committee could say yeh that sucks of the HMRC, but, you still owe the money.

I am not totally clear what was in the JR : and even if I did I am not sure I would say it here!

Of course they can say we still owe the money! Nothing is guaranteed here. But the odds are stacked in our favour.

I guess its possible HMRC may try to wriggle out by offering the same deal? would that defeat the unfairness charge..

Has anybody had an official conversation with HMRC about negotiating?

Why would we want to? We're on the high ground. Unless of course nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero liability is negotiable

I agree. I am just wondering if people, in their initial reactions, had a conversation with the HMRC when all of this business started, and thus whether they also discussed any negotiations. I myself had a conversation with one of the HMRC lot and I remember how he sounded like a car salesman, or some other dodgy dealer. He spent the majority of the conversation telling me how much the interest is, how long these things drag on, how in many many cases peoples final interest bill is much greater than the original bill...."better to pay up now and be done with it" he said. "And there is no negotiation sir, you owe use the tax."
