When the politicians know the game is up, they will choose to fund nurses rather than pointless tax cases.
Someone on the forum PM'd me recently about this and wondered if we should be planning/preparing for this in advance of the JR, perhaps even getting together for a meeting.

Given that this might be a bit tricky logistically (eg. I live 350 miles from London), perhaps a conference call would be more practical.

Has anyone ever tried one of these low-cost conference services?

And if not the partnership accounts then all HMRC have to do is check out MP's employee list (if you are classed as their "employees" I mean), which can easily be done through MP's employer tax reference.

We weren't employees of MP so there is no way to track us that way. However, I still reckon you would be incredibly lucky to escape the net forever.

              Happier New Year....hopefully

              HNY

To all of you currently gracing the bench (as I am), it looks to me as if there are a few job specs around, certainly more than I expected at this early stage ofter the mass banking kick out of the last couple of months.

Just thought I'd share a bit of optimism, good luck to everyone out there hunting for a gig - will let you know if I get lucky.

Got my CTD in place last month, moved from mortgage offset after latest interest rate drop after reading up on it here (thanks guys).

In the meantime my teeth are gritted and I'm still not even thinking of giving up this fight - thanks to all for encouraging posts over the holidays!

PS If I'm still bench sitting by then I will be going to the JR, my friend is a QC (different discipline) but I often go to see high court cases when I'm not working so won't miss this for anything. Last time I wasn't working I went to several days of the Hutton Enquiry (which my friend was part of the HM Gov legal team) - fascinating!!

                2007/8 Personal Tax Returns

I sent through all the information for MTM to prepare my personal 2007/8 tax return but I'm conscious that I haven't received anything back even though I sent everything through in mid-June last year. Hopefully things quieten down in the next few months so we can start getting back to normal (unlikely I know) - I've certainly got a few tax related questions that I know they're too busy to deal with.

This isn't intended as a criticism of either MTM or NW/TQ in particular - they've been doing a great job challenging HMRC and could have easily recommended we settle and walked off with our money as other scheme providers have done over the years...

I sent my tax return stuff for 07/08 back in May, and I haven't heard anything either so I wouldn't worry. I asked for calc of what I would be deemed to owe if HMRC win and TQ said that they were really busy with tax returns and appealing CN's and would send info later - which is fine with me, I just guessed and set up CTD for rough amount, I can adjust later if necessary.

Does it matter whether we mention Mr B anymore?

Yes. According to the filth the mentioning of named individual(s) was as bad as the jokes.
