Looked at the link for the CTD and that looks like the way forward. Is that what people are doing?

    Thanks :
montp will calculate for you : dont trust HMRC figures. Guesstimate is 33% of trust income. You will have to send letter to montp to determine what your letter is. Or can you post the non personal bits?

Some people who can afford CTDs are getting them : almost no-one pays on account. Some who can afford are just not paying up on principle : we will almost certainly win and if we lose they will just cough up.

Interesting statement, do you base this on anything concrete ?

I have emailed TQ and no response yet. Will probably do a CTD just in case.

It is entirely possible that you could miss the 28 day deadline for appealing at this time of the year through no fault of your own.
          Hello:
I have been with MP since 2003. Still not received any CN. A question to those who have received them - were they for the amount you expected/told by MP or were they for more or less? I had MP send me a breakdown of my potential tax liabilities in the case of a successfull HMRC challenge and just wondered if these figures could be relied upon.
          Thanks

for my part they were spot on, and dated back to 2001-02 and 2002-03.

not sure if this was everyone's experience though

I have a question. If Mp finally lose the case against bn66, do they have a duty to report to hmrc those not already under investigation, since they will then be aware of unlawful declarations in prior self assessments that they have themselves prepared.

Only based on the fact that HMRC action seems increasingly desperate. They know they dont have a leg to stand on : but by bullying and intimidation they get a few to settle : and discourage others from joining aggressive schemes too.

I still reckon we will win : but will not be for 3+ years. in the meantime prepare for aggressive tactics.

I think this is where we come in. Once Montpelier win the JR, it will then be time for us to lobby our MP's. They need to know how much HMRC will waste on legal cases that HMRC will lose.

Information on how much other cases cost would be useful, for example Arctic systems.

When the politicians know the game is up, they will choose to fund nurses rather than pointless tax cases.
There's an elephant wondering around here...

I believe no. Its up to hmrc to check their records : it is already declared.

Of course this means quite a few will escape.....

I doubt there will be many. MP have received a fair number of discovery notices recently, and I suspect HMRC have been using the partnership accounts to track down people they may have overlooked.
