    Lurkers

There must be quite a few because I've been monitoring the activity on this thread, and we are getting over 1000 views per day.

I wonder how many are HMRC?

I guess I'm one of the many that keeps watching the posts, but has little of value to add...

Been checking since some anonymous tipster emailed me it may be of interest. Thanks to whomever that was.

Anyway, thanks for the regular updates, general sentiment etc. Its good to know what's happening.
Am now abroad for last year. Really not sure what to do about this stuff and have wondered, since I don't have any assets in the UK(or any I do have, could be quickly moved out), if declaring bankruptcy if the BN66 decision upheld after MP challenge.

        Cheers, and keep posting.

How do you get these stats? Is it because you created this thread?

I must admit I have pondered why there are only about 20+ regular posters and potentially 2k people impacted by this.

If you list all the threads:

            http://forums.contractoruk.com/accounting-legal/

then it gives the total number of replies and views for each thread. I have just been making a note of the number of views each day. For example, in the past 24 hours alone there have been approx 1400 views.

Oh yes, forgot about that. Never look at it as just go straight to the thread. There is another useful tool with viewing who is online and then filtering by location, you can see which CUK members are viewng the BN66 thread including guests/bots etc.

I guess not everyone even looks at forums let alone contributes. In terms of the number of people impacted it could potentially be every taxpayer if HMRC and the Govt are allowed to get away with this type of legislation this time. If we fail, retrospection will become order of the day as this Govt seize on every opportunity to cover up their profligacy.

Tax planning will be dead, certainty in one's financial affairs will be a thing of the past, eBay and car boot sales will be overrun with redundant copies of Tolley's tax guides. Tax evasion will be the only solution (not recommended). Tax revenues will plummet. Anarchy will prevail...

Although I recieved a letter a couple of months ago from HMRC warning me to pay on account to prevent interest, and closure notice will be issued I'm yet to recieve a single one for the years in the scheme.

Should I be concerned, should I contact HMRC ?

You are not alone - I've been in the scheme since 2004 and haven't received any closure notices yet either. Apparently it depends on how "efficient" your local tax office is (and whether they have decided to wait for the outcome of the JR).

The only thing I am concerned about is whether they have been lost in the post and I am running out of time to submit the appeal, to be honest.

                      I'm in the same boat.

I'm happy to let Montpelier do their job.
