What are people spending their £150 per person "social function" budget on this year?

Usually, the wife and I go out for a nice meal somewhere posh to the tune of slightly under £300. I was waiting to see when lockdown would be lifted, but given that restaurants won't be open until after the end of the tax year I'm somewhat at a loss as how to make the most of this expense.

Has anyone else come up with ingenious ways to make the most of this allowance?

In case anyone is wondering what the f*** I'm talking about:

    why isn't this in General?

I went to a fine dining restaurant in August. You missed the boat..... Oops...

Or you could spend £300 on fine wine and whisky. It doesn't matter what it is. (or if you're single you could get a new deluxe fleshlight, a tub of luxury lube, and cheaper bottle of whisky). Party On.

If you're willing and capable, there's loads of resturants doing "finish at home" kits. Some are excellent, others less so. Where you live will limit your options somewhat.

We always do something around Christmas, whichi s just before my year end. Had a nice Michelin restaurant booked in, but unfortunately that got cancelled and so we missed the boat.

It's still coming out of your pocket. It's not 'free', just discounted. No need to be in rush to spend it if you don't need to.

How come it says OP has 6 posts but only 1 shows on their profile?

Plenty of options coming available. My year end is august and the ltd co is running in the background. In theory I can get 2 in before crimbo.

Wife and I took the train down to Plymouth to have a look at Smeaton's Tower.

Everything was shut but we claimed the 1st class tickets and on-board refreshments.

Claiming travel is hardly an event or a party. As you are only saving the tax on it I think I'd have not bothered with that one just avoid attention.
