I've been wondering about that. Looking at HMRC's guidance:
EIM21690 - Employment Income Manual - HMRC internal manual - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
"The general meaning of “annual” in the context of section 264 ITEPA 2003 is that it is something that happens once a year on a recurring basis and it follows from this that a one-off event, for example a party to celebrate a 25th anniversary, cannot be an annual party or function."
Under normal circumstances, I'm not sure what happens if you skip a year. Do HMRC say "Well, you've done it for 9 years out of 10, so that's near enough" or do you lose the benefit once you've broken the cycle?
Hopefully they'll make an exception this year, in view of the pandemic!

We had our final company one in December at Goodwood before lockdown. £190 for lunch for two.
No more ever for me now as I'm MVL-ing.

We'll leave the topic of catching public transport to go somewhere during a pandemic to one side for the moment.
This was before Christmas and we went from Tier 3 to Tier 3. Perfectly legal.

Claiming travel is hardly an event or a party. As you are only saving the tax on it I think I'd have not bothered with that one just avoid attention.

Has anyone else come up with ingenious ways to make the most of this allowance?
In case anyone is wondering what the f*** I'm talking about:
