Given that some people are in receipt of APNs, I think time is of the essence.
I don't believe for one minute that a review will lead to HMRC dropping their tax demands or entering into negotation, and I think our only hope of resolution lies in the courts (or on the steps of the courtroom).
I vote that we press ahead with the FTT as quickly as possible.
I totally agree, lets get the FTT ball rolling, time is of the essence

Totally agree. I got 4 APNs at the weekend covering all 4 years I was in the scheme.

To say this is a stressful time is an understatement.

I believe we should press ahead with a request for a FTT. A good point was made that if we had done this 8 years ago, we wouldn't be in this mess now. A review by HMRC will yield no more than our previous attempt via the Ombudsman (I forget the proper title). So let's press on and take advantage of the present political vacuum, he who hesitates is lost.

We've still got a few procedural issues to thrash out, and we also want to wait for the 2nd Anne Redston opinion. Fraud is not something to take lightly even if we think HMRC are spouting BS.

But we hear you loud and clear.

We have been given 2 options for bringing TAA into the frame.

            1. Everyone requests a review

            http://www.mckieandco.com/Reviews_-_..._or_Shield.pdf

            2. Everyone applies to the FTT

We are still chewing this over with our advisors but if anyone has any views please feel free to chip in.
What's the correct procedure to formally request a review? It looks like it may be complicated. Would my IPSE membership help? Surely my Tax Investigation Insurance (TII) will cover the legal assistance I am probably going to require, if I'm going to get this right?

I think NTRT has one such? Might be more appropriate shifted there?
              Not for all members alas

DR/Santa> I know its ball ache getting a closed forum and validating the users but surely we can get you help and validation for the members ? ...I personally know and can vouch for ~30 members and good mates with Brillopad who will have another list.

As mentioned ...........its the pointy end and families will be making decisions based on the information we have on these pages and the questions asked ..and can we get everything dealt with exposed as we are ?

Also there is a potential split in members:-
              a) those who went on to have Ltd companies .................................................. .......wary of a full HMRC probe
              b) those who went permie or left the country or facing bankruptcy ........................ keen to pull the pin.

On a closed forum both groups can be handled in different threads rather than the 1 exposed giant thread we have today.

              I remain at your service

While I await TQ etc, I have no means to pay 50k APN within 28 days.
Assuming most are just letting the Surcharges roll?
