    Specifically -
    * I would not support any use of TAA funds for a PR campaign, beyond an entirely bland statement along the lines of 'we have always paid all taxes as required by the law. It would be inappropriate to comment any further on an ongoing case". Engaging with the press in any case is unlikely to further our cause.
    * I have zero interest in pursuing any organisation or individual. I have always found it entirely laughable to suggest that we are the victims of some kind of a vendetta, or that this is in some way personal, or indeed that any person or group has behaved in a way that is notably corrupt or duplicitous. By all means form a separate group to do this if you feel the need for revenge but don't use my money to do it, or redirect anybody's attention away from the core issue here. Most importantly, don't do anything that jeopardises our case at the FTT.
Not everyone would agree with that, especially WG and employees of Montpelier who have been disproportionately targeted by HMRC for years. I'm sure they don't consider it 'laughable'.

Anyway, best keep to the point, which is winning at the FTTT.

I have spoken to Montpelier about TAA and they don't support it at all. I get the impression they don't think it will work.

They are still confident that Huitson can win in the end, so I'm going to stick them.

I can't see any other explanation.
We are the only group to which retrospection was applied even though other schemes were as or more aggressive and/or a higher tax take was at stake.

We are also the only group to not be offered any kind of deal. Suo Moto were and they used an identical structure. HMRC said "No deals to Montpellier customers".
Even when George was offered a private deal it is still not extended to us even though it appears to fly in the face of the LSS rules.

Vendetta is exactly what it looks like.

What I find laughable is the suggestion that no corruption, lying or underhanded behaviour has transpired.

We don't need to rake over the past but we all know the actions of various people only too well.

Filled in my form and sent my stuff in the post. Not paid my monies yet but I was expecting some sort of acknowledgement before I committed the funds. When will we see our access to the private forum approved etc?

            Montpelier letter about TAA

Just heard they're sending a letter to everyone tomorrow expressing doubts and concerns about TAA and warning clients of the risks.

Interesting. Would someone from the steering committee comment?

Last thing we want is a split!

I wish the new forum was up and going....

Will be interesting to read this. I never expected MP to support TAA (after all the underlying argument is that the MP scheme was a failure) but I'm struggling to see what the risks are given that MP will have pretty much hit the end of the road if/when the Huitson FTT judgement goes against us.

My understanding was that FTTT led to UTTT led to court of appeal then supreme court. Though you had to appeal to get to the next level in every case.

Well, thats about 2 weeks too late

NTRT - Given that some of may want to read this before our TAA appeals are submitted; do we know the timeline in which these are being processed and if it is possible to 'withdrawal' the appeal if neccessary?

Couldn't care less what MP send us regarding TAA.

We have little chance of success with the other arguments and to say this has gone on long enough is an understatement.
