    Just curious timing then.

5 months after the consultation document was published, 1 month after the consultation was finished and just 3 weeks until we know if and when its going ahead.

Oh and that isn't to knock IPSE it just seems to be a very strange time to be doing anything about this...

Not really. It's more about awareness than anything else. The submissions have gone in, and are almost universally negative, but based on past government performance in this area I think we can safely assume that they aren't going to change their minds so timing is largely irrelevant. Also, of course, they will have had time to gather and assess the reaction of their members to both the proposal and IPSE's own response.
      Blog? What blog...?

Has anyone noticed the mass proliferation of consultancies springing up to service the public sector? do they know something about operating in the new post April environment that other mortals don't?

Ah. I take it you are not in a PS contract. I'm tripping over these companies at the moment.

I am actually. The main way they can bid for work is via GCloud which is only open for applications at certain periods. GCloud 8 is closed and 9 won't be open until early 2017. They are not allowed on there if they are just providing bums on seats.

There are other ways in but I very much doubt that hastily cobbled together 'consultancies' setup to provide bum on seats continents are going to get passed anything.

Yes it's because the government wants to do business with quality small and medium enterprises. I have worked for a few in the last few years and they are a nice change from the normal culprits

If it's local and the rate's okay, inside IR35 for a role isn't the end of the world, especially if you can badge it up as something different to what you normally do.
