I was getting 16Mb/s or whatever the acronym with Bethere, but a fair amount of time where it was slow/not working/some sites not accessible - switched to BT fibre cos Be won't do it yet and other than my p2p being throttled (seed box) no issues.

Never slows, never doesn't not work, always 100% - yeah, BT, I know...

      Current on 62 up/19 down...

Only thing I'd like is fixed IP, like I had with Be but dyndns fixes that so it's a non issue. Really best thing I've ever done apart from lots of other things like having kids, first orgasm etc...

Good thread to ask as I am thinking of going BT Infinity (Fibre) in Jan when my O2 contract ends, any recommendations? Worth the price? Don't really want an 18mth contract, would like to haggle to 12, has any one tried this? Currently get 5-6Mbps up on ADSL2, and approx 1m from the exchange.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Your latter point is probably true, but the excuse Virgin has made is that there is "over-utilisation", so obviously something similar happens with fibre (not knowing any technical details).
ADSL can't get up to speeds of 50M that fibre can.

I wouldnt use virgin but then again I wouldnt use sky from broadband.

Sorry but that's not true, contention is there on ADSL as it is on cable. I had cable and it's far worse than BT infinity now, normally I get 62mb/up on BT. onit now let's see waht I get now, Leeds area, busy time normally, perhaps easing off now after schoolies have finished..

Its not possible to get 50Mbps on ADSL, the highest using BT is 8M but has the potential to go higher.
With cable you can and will higher speed.

Even the speeds using ADSL2+ cant compete with fibre

                dyndns isn't the only one.

I use another free service to point a real domain name (not a dyndns assigned one) at my home system and it has worked fine for several years.

BT infinity uses FTTC. This is not ADSL.

ADSL cant reach those speeds, what you might have is VHSDL

Youre not really listening. Theory is all very well but practice is different. I have both and fiber is slower than ADSL in my area. Understand? Because of "over utilization".
                      Hard Brexit now!
