    Shyte AV I wouldnt recommend.

NOD32 - cause one laptop system files to corrupt, had to do a full re install of Vista and all applications on one laptop.

Kaspersky - bought a 3 user license and one license became suspended within 2 days due to 'attempting to install license on too many pc's.' Had done no such thing!

Bitdefender - bought 3 user license, installed on one laptop. Within 24 hours was reporting incomplete automatic download. Knowledge Base said this was due to their servers synchronising (invalid MD5 error).

Contacted Support who wanted me to go through an hour's downloading of patches (that didnt work!), system configuration and report logging. **** off its supposed to be a simple automatic and daily update FFS.

I've no intention of going through this malarky on the other 2 laptops.

Looks like I'll have to buy F Secure which was good when run as a trial.

Haven't had any probs with Bit Defender so far although seem to recall it was a bit of a fag installing it.

I don't run any kind of anti-virus and have never had a problem on Vista using the standard built in Windows Defender.

Every week I run the free One Care Live Scanner

Who needs to install the type of old fashioned anti-virus bloatware from the 1990's era such as Norton etc?

I have to say - I've been using NOD32 on my Asus (because of it's small footprint) and had no problem with it. It does cost me a little bit though...

Bit I'm using F-Secure on my desktop and it's excellent.

I sometimes think I have more downtime because of anti virus software than if I had no protection at all. At my current client co the AV software scans every single file I open, be it web page, word doc or whatever. Some of these files are quite big and sitting there waiting for 2-3 minutes for them to become responsive after a scan adds up when you are doing it 30 times a day.
