Best advice I received on this is:

      One password for your webmail.
One password for all your financial stuff.
      One password for the rest.

Couple of fluff chucking trips only plus first evening after river carp last weekend. Hopefully on the Dorset Stour with son #1 Saturday evening.

        Yourself?

And no, this isn't off topic because the Unix user account passwords on the client's boxes are all based on the names of fresh water fish.

Until now I used Handy Safe which has a desktop app and synched to a mobile version of the app on my N95.

However I have moved to the dark side (iPhone) and there is no Handy Safe. So I am in the process of moving to SPB Wallet ($10 each for desktop and iPhone app).

Its much easier to edit on the PC then sync to the phone so I have access to the info on the go.

You can use one ID/pwd for unimportant things like forums. Others I put in protected excel sheet but use vba to encrypt the content and put clues rather than actual value where possible.

I have one password I use for clients that I increase the number by one at each password change.

                  One password for financial stuff

One password for forums, facebook etc.

only one pin, but only use two cards.

A friend of mine who works at Microsoft (fairly senior) had a lot of passwords which he couldn't expect to always remember, but had to keep secure at home.

He kept them in an encrypted spreadsheet on a USB stick which he locked in a safe. The key to the safe was locked in a cashbox in a cupboard two floors up in the house. The key to the cashbox was in another cashbox on a different floor again. The key to that cashbox was in a cashbox in the cellar. The key to... well, you get the idea.

He had to follow a trail of, IIRC, seven keys to get into the safe, but he reckoned the passwords were secure from the average burglar

(I'm not sure what he does now he's moved into a two bedroom apartment in Reading...)

I don't use one password for financial sites. If the password is compromised there is a danger that all your accounts will be wiped out
