How do you keep track of passwords?

I used to keep my passwords and related security info in a password-protected PDA, but it has packed up.

Now it's the Pensions Regulator and their ID, password, security questions and answers that need recording.

I have scores of login ids, passords, PINs and other crud I'm expected to memorise by umpteen different organisations. And they all say "You can't write it down". Having come a cropper some years ago because I used the same password for everything, I now try not to use the same password for different things. Memorising them is impossible.

How do you keep track of all this stuff?

develop an algorithm that you can run against each website/manufacturer/entity name. then just remember the algorithm.

I write them down also on a small bit of paper kept in my pocket.
It's all very well keeping them on a spreadsheet or other application on your PC but first you have to remember the password to log into your PC

I have one base password, two made up words (which you can say - helps memory) separated by a number. Vary the number however much you like and whatever rules you like.

Car registration number. When need monthly change then prefix it with month and year.

As a result, everyone I have worked with has access to all my accounts.
