I can't seem to do this with my PC. Note I'm not PC savvy. So what am I doing wrong?

You can't
The best you can do is to embed it using the URL (i.e. link) of the image: use the image button
up in the toolbar to provide the URL or, if you're using a non-WYSIWYG version of the editor, use the embed code directly, e.g..

thanks for the reply. As I've said, I'm not PC savvy, but would I be correct in thinking that if I created a link to a JPEG which sits on my home PC hard drive, that anyone who viewed the image would link to my PC?Originally posted by NickFitz View PostYou can't

Or is that not what you are suggesting?Comment

That won't work unless you've opened your home PC to the world (which would be a bad thing). You could use something like:
ImgBB — Upload Image — Free Image Hosting
eg
And the lord said unto John; "come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.Comment

As b0redom says, that shouldn't workOriginally posted by JohntheBike View Postthanks for the reply. As I've said, I'm not PC savvy, but would I be correct in thinking that if I created a link to a JPEG which sits on my home PC hard drive, that anyone who viewed the image would link to my PC?

I stick stuff on my own site and link to that, but a free image upload service is a good alternative if you don't have that option. If it's an image on another site such as a news site or an artist's portfolio, you can also try linking to it directly, but a lot of sites don't like that and will block it.Comment
