Looking for a self hosted, free if possible, ticketing/helpdesk, would prefer Linux based but I know SpiceWorks gets excellent reviews and if that’s the best what tips are out there for securing a public facing windows server

How many agents? Jira service desk is £10 for up to 3 agents after that the price explodes. I have used it, it was OK, although I hear people complain quite a lot about Atlassian.
Best way to secure a windows server, in addition to a decent firewall is probably NAT + port forwarding only on the required ports.Comment

I recently did this for our company and although it's not really a helpdesk application, we're using it for that, application development monitoring and bug reporting and we're reasonably happy with MantisBT: Mantis Bug Tracker“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

I like Trac, use it myself for logging tickets for my various clientsPoliticians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!Comment
