Got a new Lenovo pc for Christmas with Windows 10. I hate it. Keeps hanging while browsing. Even things like creating a new folder in explorer sometimes cause it to hang.

6 year old Acer laptop running fine (even better since upgrading it to 8GB RAM) - was originally Win7
10 year old Dell desktop also running fine - was originally Vista, 4GB RAM.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

2 x laptops (on Dell one HP ) upgraded no issues, and Dell media centre all Windows 10. Gone down the office 365 route as well.

Did the 7 > 10 upgrade last week - hated the GUI and tabletesque desktop

Lost Media Player so spent a while working out how to get live TV back to the desktop

Spent time installing and playing with virtualisation software to get old programs to run

In the end did a fook it and will stay with 7 until at least 2020

Fortunately the back out feature built into the 10 upgrade worked very well and normal service is resumed

I would suggest reformatting and installing 10 from scratch, I pissed about for hours downloading the latest drivers etc from their crappy website. I had similar problems to you, so it would hang if i typed the first letter in the address bar on Chrome (IE was fine). The WiFi would stop working, so would the trackpad. Bluetooth was a major pain, constantly deleting devices and pairing again. And it was so slow.

It's like a new useful machine now! Though I would never buy from Lenovo again.

All machines bar our home server are now on Win 10 and they have all worked pretty much perfectly.

Like others, we had some problems with waking up from hibernation which were solved by turning off hibernation (who needs polar bears anyway?).

+1 for Lenovo being a pile of tulip. But that applies to any version of Windows, not just Win 10.

Mixed experience in the upgrade parts, but all machines running 10 (previously 8.1) now:
Desktop PC (custom, now only used for kids YouTube fixation) upgraded with minor issues; tiny Asus Vivobook laptop (backup machine for kids YouTube fixation) upgraded with no issue. Linx 7" tablet very smooth......
MyCo personal Gigabyte P35k laptop upgraded with no problems, apart from some proprietary Gigabyte applications not playing ball......and, strangely, the device I had the most trouble with......Surface Pro 3!!!! This proved to be the most problematic, so much so that - in the end - downloaded a full install and started from scratch; go figure, Microsoft's own hardware the most awkward

Yes. No major hassles although some minor issues, like had to reinstall printer.

Main gripe is the horrible start menu, it doesn't recognise subfolders so if you had say blah\prog1\readme and blah\prog2\readme you would end seeing 2 readme files in blah. Start10 is a good solution but has some flaws. Showed all my original start menu but things disappeared if I moved them. You need to always use the all users start menu folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Just put things you want to run on start in C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Star t Menu\Startup.

If you don't like it, it's easy to roll back. Did it on my spare PC with no problems.

I'm not going near it until it seems stable enough to use without all this fannying around. I suspect that my Dell 16gb i7 laptop will be dead before that happens.

Does anyone know how to stop the annoying W10 popup reminders that badger me to upgrade?

There's a notification setting (usually with the USB eject). I think there was 2 different options from there, to turn it off.
