Tonight in Pixie, her artistic career is looking up after several years of struggle, with an exhibition of her “music paintings” (she had synæsthesia so would listen to music and draw the visions it evoked) selling well at Stieglitz’s gallery in New York

Sunny. Blue sky with cloud that looks like pebbles. Currently 21 degrees ('feels like' 24) and that's the high for the day. Barometer at 1022 mBar.

Rubbish sleep. Woke around 3 am and dozed off and on for several hours. This morning the local fun run went past and enthusiastic people were cheering the runners along.

In helping Mum find a comb, I found a pot of yoghurt in her dressing table drawer. No idea how long that had been there so into the bin it went.

Not so much cloud today and what there is is high and wispy, which I believe presages a change in the weather. It’s mild at 16°C and expected to soar to 24°, with the barometers down a little at 1009/1017mB

The coming week will be cooler though, with rain likely to return

Trip to the tip later, our gardener filled 4 dumpy bags with prunings yesterday. Will make my first trip this morning and see what the queue is like. Second trip might be straight after, or saved for tomorrow.

3 trips done yesterday - 2 in the morning and one just before they closed. Might have to do a run today as well. It’s amazing how much extra garden waste you generate when you put a new chain on a saw.

Cartrefi Cymru: EcoHouses: starts off the CAT in Machynlleth: the first house they built had 450mm of fibreglass insulation and proved too hot to live in, the 2nd one was more reasonable, built to the designs of a German chap: it's on stilts to avoid damp from the ground, of which there, of course, rather a lot in Wales. A chap & chapesse who built one in 1992 to look like a barn conversion: even has a tracking solar power thingie for that extra 20% of output when it's not raining. Plus a more recent one. Last ep.

Tonight in Pixie, Ms Smith has achieved great popularity among the theatre people - so much so that actress Florence Farr invited her to be initiated into the Order of the Golden Dawn. I wasn’t previously aware that at this time (it’s 1901), A. E. Waite was manager of a Horlicks factory. But I don’t suppose he would have been able to make a living solely from his (frankly rather turgid) books about esoteric matters

Tedious drive down to Sussex-by-the-Sea.

My brother has gone off on his holiday.

The printer has been set up on the PC. Of course the "HP App" that HP say has to be installed via the Microsoft Store is a load of crap and I had to hunt down the old fashioned software so enable the scanner functionality.

It's all a bit slow but useable.
