Quite day work-wise. Knackering afternoon walking around Terminal 3 looking for self-service wheelchairs. Apparently I walked 4 miles

Another week done, and only twelve more working days for me this year!

The afternoon went reasonably well, I thought. There was the minor issue of causing a division-by-zero error in the database, but it was only in the hotfix environment, and that’s what it’s for, really

I’d actually mentioned a few days ago that we’d have to guard against that very thing, but left it on the to-do list as it didn’t happen in local development because of the dummy data we use. The other dev suggested we were at a good point to give the app a try against some real data, so we deployed it and it immediately blew up. Didn’t take me long to fix, though I ended up working an extra half-hour getting the changes deployed. But that was mainly sitting around waiting for builds and stuff to happen, and it was worth spending the time to make sure she’s got something stable to work with when I’m off tomorrow

    Lunch: cold chicken leg, again

It’s quite cloudy out, but not the kind that tend to rain on one and blue sky is visible through a number of gaps

It was a fairly productive morning, and may also be a fairly productive afternoon; we shall see

    Morning all

Sunny, just a few wisps here and there. Currently -1 ('feels like' -4) with a high of 4 expected. Barometer up to 1014 mBar.

    Sunrise 07:28; Sunset 16:06 GMT

There was a tiny bit of ice on the car when I left for the office. Got in early for an 8am meeting that was cancelled.

    Morning.

    Thursday apparently.

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Frosty.

Chilly in here at 13.3 deg, 11 deg in the kitchen, 5 deg in the leanto, 2.6 deg in the saltinghouse.

1013.5 mBar, 29.93 in Hg, 760.2 Torr, 14.6995 psi, (up from 1012 last night), 50% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 1st of March I was watchiing "Homeland" whilst NF was watching "The Killing" S1, whereas on the 2nd AndyGarbs, Churchill, and Brillo popped in along with LM and everyone was cold.

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked. Less cold today without yesterday's wind. Still took 3 miles to feel my fingers again.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Y&Y scam watch <click>. Toast: the rise & fall of Blackberry.

We'll all go together when we go:

    .

Tea: beans on toast with scrambled egg. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM with the Orange Moron spouting about sedition. Well he should know, being as he started some.

    The Nazi programme.

Maybe Julia Bradbury about Scottish railways.

Classic Movies: Escape from New York.

    The directors: Discovering John Frankenheimer.

Not the space thing since I've already watched it on BBC2 NI.

    Book.

    Morning denizens

Quite a lot of thin layers of cloud stretch to the horizon in most directions, but there’s a lot of blue sky directly above and it seems to be clearing from the northwest-ish. Cold night though: it’s now back up to -1°C, though it “feels like” -7°; and the day itself will only make it to 4°. The barometers are back up a little at 1001/1010mB

Tonight’s viewing was the start of a Netflix documentary series about the Yorkshire Ripper. At least it was British, and therefore didn’t change the subject every thirty seconds

And later, I read more of Going Going Gone

Tomorrow, somebody will be coming round to inspect the flat door because of Grenfell. Weirdly, the other two blocks aren’t tall enough to require this annual check, though they’re almost as tall as this one; it’s the top floor that does it

    Goodnight all

Drain covers are a matter of concern for some, it turns out. And that perennial favourite, parking, was brought up of course. I’m OK with the suggestion that people who have visitors staying over the weekend should ask them to park on the road, but I don’t expect it’ll make much difference

The most amusing moment was when the matter of replacing the cast iron drainpipes on the two old blocks came up. Apparently, like-for-like replacement would cost around a million quid, which is a lot even when split across thirty-odd flats! The expressions on the faces of those who had their cameras on were a sight to behold. But they’re hoping to get planning permission to use ones made of plastic which look like the real thing and have previously been approved for use on listed buildings, so they should end up being charged quite a bit less

For our block, the only potential big ticket item is replacing the doors on the room of storerooms with new fire doors, which they’ve decided can be done out of the block's reserve fund

And apparently we in the new block can also expect a rebate on this year’s management fees, as whatever it all gets spent on hasn’t cost as much as they expected. I assume this will come in the form of a reduction on next year’s charges rather than sending us cheques or whatever, but every little helps!

My only contribution was to ask about the matter of wayleaves so we can get fibre to the premises. Apparently one of the old blocks is getting it in the very near future, the cabling having recently been installed to the building and work on the runs to the individual flats being about to start. It seems our block might be a bit trickier to get to as it could involve digging up the drive. But I’m going to start the process, as I appear to be the only one in this block who had heard of it being a possibility, or even knew what it was

    Good Afternoon All,

Wind 11 kt from the North
    Temperature 5°C
    Humidity 70%
    Pressure 1014 hPa
    Visibility 10 km or more
Few clouds at a height of 3400 ft

Soup for lunch because, well, it's a weekday and that's all I ever have for lunch midweek. Homemade and this weeks seems more carroty and less spicy than normal.

Was up in Scotland for the weekend to watch Ice Hockey and I have determined that the best rink served food is in Fife.
