It’s a sunny and Simpsonesque start, and expected to be not quite as vile: 15°C now, rising to 25° for a spell in mid-afternoon. The barometers are steady at 1015/1023mB

Tomorrow will see a brief resurgence of The Unpleasantness with a high of 28°, after which things will start getting back to normal, with daily highs dipping below 20° by early next week and rain expected most days

Last night was, I think, a little more bearable than the previous two

Frustrating call for gig2 resulting in a whole heap of rework needing doing because no-one can explain themselves consistently from one day to the next. So glad this one ends in a month.

I know the news was saying Sunday was hottest overnight but I found last night to be the bigger struggle. I haven't switched the duvet because I lack the will to do a whole bed change at the same time. Technically, it's not necessary but if I'm going to the effort of wrestling with the duvet then I may as well do the whole lot. I'll deal with it at the weekend and suffer (not in silence) until then.

I was following a similar pattern of reasoning last night. It’s going to be a bit cooler later in the week, so I’ll stick it out for now. Next week will be even cooler, so a bed change at the weekend will be the time to decide how much duvet is likely to be required

Not a hugely busy morning. The thing I’ve been working on is waiting for the stakeholders to say it’s done, but the relevant people are off today so our weekly meeting was cancelled. There are some data export bits that the other dev didn’t finish due to a mix of needing more info from a different team who control the place the data goes to, and checking some things with stakeholders again. So I’m mainly just poking at them to work out if there’s anything I could be doing

Meanwhile on the 28th of March 2020 BR14, eek, LM, NF, vetran & I popped in, with discussion of tonsils, tonsillitis, tonsillectomy etc.

Slept reasonably well: no covering required until 03:00, whereupon a single sheet sufficed until the usual weird dream woke me at about 06:20ish. This one seemed to involve some sort of trip to an interview, curiously enough with a lady colleague sleeping in the same bed as I, though no rumpy pumpy seems to have transpired. . better luck next dream. .

Shopping trip to that Tesco: 34 bus out, 4 bus back. Cuts down the amount of walking by 60%. Which, in this unbearable heat, is good. Easier on the knees too.

Now recovering with a mug of mediocre yet consistent coffee.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: a thing about joining up music or something. <click>

Same again today, it seems. It’s 22°C (“feels like” 25°) and expected to reach 31° - though it looks like it’ll get there a bit earlier in the afternoon and persist at that temperature for a bit longer. The barometers are down a little at 1016/1024mB, perhaps presaging the marginally less hot weather expected for the rest of the week. Normal service should be resumed next week

Tonight’s only viewing was the rest of the episode of Traffic Cops which mysteriously disappeared a few weeks ago after I’d watched half of it. Maybe the rest of the series will start turning up too; this one is, I think the fifth one on the screen, is labelled “Episode 13” but also has the title “Episode 12” so they’re even confusing themselves

And in The Middle Kingdoms there’s trouble with the Turks and the Cossacks. Also much argument over religion, though the Swiss seemed to have a handle on it: when Geneva Zurich resorted to armed conflict with a neighbouring canton over the vexed question of Catholicism v. Protestantism, their forces met on the field of battle but just made soup together instead of fighting

Oh, and I did the mundane laundry this evening, having forgotten to do it any earlier
