    Morning denizens

Very foggy start out. It seemed as if there was quite bright backlighting to it earlier, suggesting it would be sunny if the fog cleared, but that seems to have changed now so it's just quite grey. Not very warm either at 9°C, though it'll creep up to 15° later. The barometers are down a touch at 1021/1019mB

I had a very good and refreshing night's sleep, except that I seem to have managed to squash my right hand which is a bit sore as a result. It seems to be gradually improving though

Could just be arthritis triggered by the damp and foggy conditions, I suppose

    Morning all

Cloudy, overcast. Weather app says it's sunny and will remain that way all day. Currently 11 degrees with a high of 17 expected. Barometer down to 1032 mBar.

    Sunrise 07:20; Sunset 18:14 BST

Off to see Mum today. I have hired a Zipcar, which is located about a 15 minute walk away. Here's hoping it's got some petrol in it.

    Morning.

    Sunday.

    Dry.

    Grey.

    Sunless.

Chilly in here at 16.9 deg, 16 in the kitchen, 15 in the leanto.

1027.5 mBar, 30.34 in Hg, 770.7 Torr, 14.9 psi, (unchanged), 65% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of February 2020 NF discovered that The Chinese was about to have a new owner, followed by watching Mad Max Fury Road (still haven't watched that), BR14 popped in, and I watched Death Wish IV, and commented on some of the actors views on Michael Winner, Marina Sirtis and Alex Winter to be precise, she being the rape victim who was unimpressed with being kept hanging about half naked whilst he farted about with lighting the shot. .

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom. Noted that the tide was coming in so the river was flowing the wrong way.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: well I'm not listening to di ti di me old pal me old beauty. .

Freecell score: 75%, running average: 84%

    Sun's out.

Strimmed the parents' grave and the grandparents' graves. And a bit down the garden. And brought those floor tiles back down for disposal (someone covered one grave with plastic floor tiles and pebbles WTF?). And I met a nice grass snake in the cemetery.

    Tea: beans on toast etc.

Entertainment: Look at Life: the British Sunday back when every fecking thing was shut and shopkeepers were prosecuted for refilling cigarette machines (I kid you not).

    Sergeant Cork.

Lots of wildlife stuff on the box as usual

And in Random Acts of Senseless Violence, while the currency has been devalued, the stock market has collapsed, and another President has been assassinated, Lola and her friends in Harlem have more important matters to attend to…

    Goodnight all

Had to return to Boots twice in order to get my prescriptions dealt with as one of them was only partially filled and the remainder was waiting sign off by the pharmacist, who had just gone on lunch break when I turned up.

The clouds have dissipated and the resulting sunshine has made the day lovely and warm.

Just spent an enthralling few minutes dealing with my home contents insurance renewal

I'd been meaning to update it as it didn't cover the full value of either the bike or the Mac Mini, but I suspected I'd have to phone them up so I kept putting it off. But the renewal is due on Monday so I checked the details on the website, and it turned out I was able to add them without having to speak to anybody

Grey day again. As is also fairly standard now, it's 12°C with an expected high of 16°. The barometers are a touch higher at 1023/1031mB

I'm debating what to have for breakfast. I got some croissants and jam yesterday, so that seems like a good choice

Overcast. Dry. Currently 14 degrees with a high of 16 expected. The sun might make an appearance. Barometer up to 1035 mBar.

I have been to the farmers' market. Hot rum sauce and green seasoning procured from the Carribbean sauce lady (her posting on Instagram that she was at this market today spurred me to get out of bed). Other purchases were bacon, sausages, English muffins and tinned seafood.

I need to do some laundry and then contemplate what else to do with my day. I have a prescription to pick up so that means going outside again. Shame they couldn't have texted readiness while I was at the market.

dear, oh dear. a fine state of affairs, and no mistake.
You are quite right, one shouldn't lower oneself to use public transport too frequently. It's good to be reminded of one's exhalted place in society but it is rather uncouth to make a habit of it.

I hope it's not raining when I pick the car up at the end of the month as that walk will be squishy and muddy.

    Dreary.

Chilly in here at 17 deg, 17 in the kitchen, 16 in the leanto.

1029 mBar, 30.39 in Hg, 771.9 Torr, 14.93 psi, (up a tad from last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of February 2020 Brillo and BR14 popped in, NF forewent scrabbling behind the telly due to a complaining back, and I watched Death Wish III and IV.

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: if there was any I didn't find it.

Freecell score: 88%, running average: 84%.

Yet more welding. I used to be rather good at this. 40 years ago. 4 years ago I was capable of stick welding an exhaust pipe back together. This fecking gate repair: no chance.

So lots and lots of practice this afternoon to my hand in again, lots of rods that are way past their best so laying down weld like a good un. Using 2mm rods this afternoon. Maybe keeping them under the stairs wasn't the bestest of ideas. .

Tea: soup, being knackered from the afternoon's exertions. Entertainment: PM.

Pink Floyd "A Delicate Sound of Thunder" on Sky Arts.

A look at life: Gold. A look at the gold in the Bank of England that the diptulip Brown sold.

In 1961 gold was £13/oz. £420/kg. And the gold in a sovereign was worth £3.

A kg of gold is now £96,901. Such are the vagaries of a fiat currency.

Maigret "The winning ticket (1961)". I wasn't word perfect on that one: must have missed it on previous showings.

Pink Floyd "The endless drone river". <click>.

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 84%.

Pink Floyd in Pompeii (1972). Stone me they look young. I watched this in the Odeon Swansea in the 1970s. I'd never heard most of it before.
