Morning.
Thursday.
Wet. Wet. Wet. Standing water at the bottom of next door's garden (fortunately it's a foot lower than my garden). Can't say that it has rained that much but there you go.
Grey.
Sunless.
Dreary.
Drizzly.
Cool in here at 19.1 deg, 19 deg in the kitchen, 18 in the leanto.
1010.5 mBar, 29.84 in Hg, 757.9 Torr, 14.656 psi, (up from 1009 last night).
Meanwhile on the 17th of February 2020 Brillo, BR14, and Churchill popped in, Diver and his hand were mentioned, NF commented, WTFH did too, and LM eventually appeared.

Morning denizens
Grey start and there's been a bit more rain overnight, with an 80% chance of showers very soon; but there are hints of thinness to some areas of cloud suggesting the possibility of brighter spells. Still windy. The mild spell continues: it's already 17°C and expected to reach 21° for a few hours this afternoon. The barometers are up a little at 1003/1011mB

The final Rumpole story (of this collection) has been read. It was rather a good one, I thought
Thursday tomorrow!
Although I'm quite enjoying the work I'm on now and it's a good team, I'm still glad the week is almost over
Goodnight all

Long group walk this morning, I was the only bloke again. Local history talk this evening, about prehistoric flints found in the area, bit boring but nice chats afterwards.

Tea has been the last of the belly pork braised in cider out of the freezer, with chips. I'll definitely make that again
This was accompanied by S1E1 of Critical: Between Life and Death on Netflix, which is a bit like 24 Hours in A&E combined with the call centre bits of Ambulance judging by this episode, being a documentary about London's health services dealing with serious incidents; this episode was about a bunch of people being injured when a fairground ride decided to fall to bits as it was whizzing them around at high speed
Given how many such documentary series I've watched, part of the fun in this was spotting medical staff that have appeared in the other programmes. In particular, one of the doctors with HEMS was, IIRC, previously at either St George's or Kings and has appeared on 24 Hours in A&E quite a few times

Rain's stopped. Sky's still grey. Wind's still windy
After a morning of mostly meetings, the afternoon will be mostly meetings

Greyer, wetter, more depressing than yesterday.
Meeting at school first thing to try sorting primary to secondary transition for eldest. What fun. Now in the office - more fun.

Last time, our team went last, so I assumed I'd have about an hour to think it through while other teams chuntered on about what they'd been doing. First thing I saw when I woke the work laptop was "We're going first!" Oh well, probably best to get it out of the way

Dull and overcast. Damp from overnight rain. Currently 15 degrees with a high of 18 expected. Rain may occur this morning and again mid afternoon onwards. Barometer down to 1016 mBar.
Sunrise 06:40; Sunset 19:11
Today I will be taking yea olde jalopy to an air conditioning specialist to get the definitive verdict on what's needed to get the air conditioning working again. It's not worked for two years and it's this time of year when it's needed most. In the summer, I just drive with the windows open and cover the leather seats. In the winter, the car mists up and clearing the windscreen is a challenge. I know the clutch that operates the compressor has failed but I don't know if that one part is replaceable or if it's a "whole unit" job. An estimate I got over the phone in March suggests that it's going to cost north of a grand to sort out.

Meanwhile on the 17th of February 2020 AndyGarbs, opm, Brillo, and Churchill popped in, the latter with concerns about flooding down by 'ere, and his little lad had been away with the cubs, the water had drained from the bottoms of the gardens which was good, WTFH saw a patch of blue sky, as did I though it didn't last long, NF was reading a neurosurgeon's book, and I was wondering WTF "Homeland" had been about for S4, 5, & 6.
Freecell score in the endless drizzle: 85%, running average: 84%. Better than last night's 74%.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the drone of the dehumidifier.
For the sake of something to do: house roughly vacced.:.
Freecell score: 95%, running average: 84%.
Tea: Tesco battered cod (or haddock). Nice enough.
Entertainment: PM. Went <click> when the Orange Micropenised Moron was mentioned, so more off than on.
Grand tours of Scotland's Rivers: the Irvine. Oh look: more closed factories: this one an explosives factory.
Digging for Britain. More stuff dug up. <click> Too tedious.
Maigret and the lady's companion (2004). The one with the posh git who's nearly bankrupt but has a rich auntie.

Morning denizens
It's a rainy start after a rainy night, with a rainy morning ahead; and though it's supposed to stop raining at lunchtime, it'll remain windy. The rain is, in fact, just a bit drizzly at the moment, but will become heavier again shortly. It'll be slightly warmer though: currently 13°C (though it "feels like" 7°) and soaring to 20° for a brief spell this afternoon. The barometers are about the same at 1001/1008mB
