And tonight’s reading was Their Finest Hour and a Half by Lissa Evans, which is the book on which the film Their Finest with Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy is based. I enjoyed the film when I watched it a few years ago, and the book is very good

Monday again tomorrow. I think I’m going to book some time off in October, because otherwise it’s an endless sea of Mondays until Christmas

Today brought Monkey Life along with some other wildlife stuff, including Australians whose job is going into people’s houses to remove snakes, which had me wondering why on earth anybody lives in Australia

Tonight, I finished reading Dawn. Not sure if I’ll move straight on to the second part of the trilogy, or read something else in between

It’s a cloudy day except for a few small patches of blue, and it’s very windy, with the trees gesticulating frantically. So the current 21°C “feels like” 17° and the high of 22° won’t last very long. It’s expected to be a relatively mild night though, not dipping below 16°. The barometers are hanging around the same general area of 1014/1015mB

Tonight’s motion picture premiere was Tornado (2025) in which a Japanese puppeteer and her father find themselves in conflict with a band of robbers in a remote part of 18th century Britain. This was utterly bleak throughout, but in a good way if you know what I mean. Well worth watching, but it’s not setting out to cheer you up, and it won’t

And then I rewatched Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). I appreciated this much more the second time around. I understand why George Miller used the storyboards for this to get people to sign on for Mad Max: Fury Road because it’s a story one really needs to know the resolution of. Although it has plenty of mayhem and insanity in its own right, it does an excellent job of imparting an understanding of just why the mayhem and insanity shown in Mad Max: Fury Road happened, and in the way they did

Finally, the second episode of Dark Matter which is still OK in its way but… I’m not sure it’s going to grab me. It still feels like one of those things that’s worth watching if you’re going to be watching TV anyway, not something that leaves you hungry for the next episode, and then for the next series (or season)
