Morning all
Some light cloud, but mostly blues skies and sunny here. Was 10C at 6am, so a lighter jacket was the order of the day for our walk. Back in, one load of washing (dog towels) on the line already, next load in the machine.
It’s back to grey out, though it may brighten up later. Breezy too, so the current 8°C “feels like” 2°; it’ll soar to 14° this afternoon though. The barometers are a touch down at 999/1007mB
Monday again. Let’s see if there’s anything good in the news to start the week on a positive note… ah, no, let’s not
There was a bit of wildlife stuff on the telly over teatime
Tonight, not being in the mood for serious and weighty works of history, I started reading This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. I tried starting this a while ago (possibly a couple of years ago, even?) but wasn’t in the mood for it at the time. But I’m quite enjoying it this time
Dry and sunny on arrival, with the just just setting as we landed. Currently 8 degrees and the high was 12. Barometer at 1022 mBar.
Sunrise 07:32; Sunset 18:33 CET
Had a lovely morning mooching around Krakow, before starting our journey home. The sun came out and it was a glorious day. We will be getting on our last flight of the weekend, back to London, in about half an hour. I'm a bit tired now.
I get some wierd dreams. Last night was about a lot of us doing something with the cooling systems on our cars which were connected to the mains supply. Bit of a flaw with that.
Not sure I'll go to village club later, people I know don't seem to be there recently. Heard one was ill but dunno about others. Perhaps just look through window and see.
This morning’s forum wrangling has been the tags import, as for whatever reason that step runs between threads, which I got working on Friday, and posts. It wasn’t a particularly complicated one though
Time for lunch: a leftover pork chop in a wholemeal bap with apple sauce
I’m not sure whether to tackle importing posts this afternoon; it’s going to be quite a big one as it’s spread over several steps, so it might be better to approach it when I have a whole day to spend on it
Sunny with fluff. Currently 10 degrees ('feels like' 8) with a high of 13 expected. Barometer up to 1026 mBar.
Sunrise 06:24; Sunset 17:22 CET
Having breakfast before deciding what to do with our morning in Krakow. The old town is very easy to walk around so I expect we'll do some mooching about before finding a spot for lunch.
It’s a sunny day with a mainly blue sky to welcome in March. There’s some high, thin stuff and mare’s tails towards the east, but it’s all clear to the west. It felt a little chilly when I poked my head out of the window though, and apparently it’s 8°C but “feels like” 2° - or maybe will feel like that once the wind increases later, as it isn’t very gusty right now? Though by then we can expect to have reached the day’s high of 12°. The barometers are down a little after yesterday’s surge, at 1001/1009mB
Chilly in here at 13.8 deg, 13 deg in the kitchen, 12 in the leanto.
1007.5 mBar, 29.75 in Hg, 755.7 Torr, 14.61 psi, (down from 1011 last night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 18th/19th of March 2020 AndyGarbs, Brillo, eek, LM, NF and I popped in.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Inside Trump's Head on youtube.
Book.
That spy thing by Anthony Price was on one of the sat channels again.
Tea: beans on toast etc.
Entertainment: Sergeant Cork S3 E6 "the case of the medicine man". Sgt Cork was in this for all of 5 minutes right at the start. It all revolved around DC Bob Marriott for some reason. Not terribly inneresting.
Oh, I forgot: the most inneresting thing was Peter Sallis as a Reverend Gentleman. No Grommit though.
Lucy Worsley waffling on about The East India Company, the Black Hole of Calcutta, the Indian Mutiny, blowing mutineers away with cannon, the Raj, the Widow of Windsor, Disraeli, Victoria's friend Abdul, and the end of Empire in 1947. E3/3.
Goodness me, according to the FT one is supposed to throw away smalls every 6 months as washing at 60 deg doesn't kill all the bugs.
This evening, I started reading The Third Reich: A New History by Michael Burleigh (published in 2000, so not actually new any more). It seems to take an interesting approach to the subject, but I’ll probably read it a bit at a time as it’s nearly a thousand pages long!
You do get about a lot lm. Just a woodland volunteery thing for me this morning followed by walk with ll1 round one of usual old places. Quite sunny. Another woodland volunteer thing tomorrow, not sure if I'll bother. Walk with younger ll3 on Monday.
