I made it clear that I couldn't deliver right at the start when I contacted them. The big surprise is that they noticed that I'd said it!

In fact, the washing machine woman stated in her "wanted" post that she could get it collected. This lulled me into a false sense of security - I thought she'd be the easy one to deal with

In the meantime, I'd finally decided that having the washing machine and fridge from the old flat taking up most of my little storeroom downstairs was stupid, and I should find new homes for them. I checked Freecycle and there were people asking for both, so I let them know.

I haven't been busy today, as the chap who knows what he's doing and is supposed to be passing this wisdom on to me is off sick. I've been asking questions of a chap on the service we're supposed to be working with, and he's been responding a couple of hours later when he has time, and then I'm able to make a one or two line edit to some documentation. I've tried asking the rest of the team if they have anything I can help with, via Slack, and have received no response

The woman asking for a washing machine started being a bit fussy; how do I know it still works after two years, can she have photos, and all that. I popped down at lunchtime and hauled everything out of there so I could take some photos, which turned out to be worth doing anyway as I've got the space more neatly organised now - things had originally just been shoved in there as and when I brought them over. Then it turned out you can't include photos in messages, so I had to upload them somewhere and send her a URL. No response to that yet; if she doesn't get back to me soon, there's somebody else posted wanting one this morning, who perhaps won't be such a fusspot

Meanwhile, the chap looking for a fridge was just "I can come at these times, do I need to bring help get it down any stairs" and so on. I'd checked it while I was down there and it needs a bit of a clean. So I've arranged for him to come and get it on Thursday evening, to give me time to spruce it up. Much less hassle

Plumbers have been let in and are getting on with their doings. Mum has been fed a bit of breakfast.

Morning denizens

Some bands of cloud low on the horizon have been keeping the sun down, but it'll have risen a few minutes ago and there's a clear sky everywhere else for it to travel through. A bit chilly at 3°C and it's even expected to fall by a further 1° over the next hour before resuming a rise to 7° this afternoon. The barometers are also on the rise at 1000/1009mB

Will try to re-roof the lawnmower shed today.

Got one of the neighbours to come round and help with the shed roof. As we went to move it, I remembered that the last time we did it I had not attached the box profile sheets to it before lifting it in place. This time it was a tad heavier than before.
During the lifting process my bad shoulder was sore, and I wasn’t too surprised by the end that I was unable to shake my neighbour’s hand.
So far a mid of paracetamol and naproxen has dulled the pain, but I suspect breakfast tomorrow will be 75mg diclofenac or possibly even tramadol.

Anyway, the shed roof is back in place and I have made it to bed.

I also found some time to muck around with the Bluesky app, although that was mostly devoted to learning more about asynchronous HTTP request handling in Swift. Got a fetch of an actual feed working, though

And I finished reading Nuclear War: A Scenario which doesn't end well for anybody anywhere, as you might expect

Evening all, Sussex calling

It's been a damp day but not especially chilly with a high of 13 degrees.

Arrived back from Berlin at 10.30 pm yesterday, unpacked and then repacked.

This morning I got up early to do laundry, shower, have a morning meeting and make sure mum was out of bed to let the plumber in. Drove down to Sussex, met the plumber, logged back onto work to find the 2pm meeting I'd rushed to be at a desk for had been postponed to tomorrow.

Took mum to Tesco and made sure we had some proper food for dinners.

HWMBO took advantage of BA offering free flight rebooking to retime his trip home today. He'll be back at the weekend.

Looks like it was the last of that soup. Oh well, I need freezer space for the large quantity of Scotch broth that will come from the lamb shoulder

Meanwhile on the 4th of December 2019 I was railing about Xmas, LM agreed with me, the hoi polloi in the library were to be turfed out between the 24th and the 2nd of Jan, covbob was railing about baby pimps & their ineptitude, whereas I mentioned getting calls referencing a 15 year old CV, and there was a 4 hour hiatus in TPD posting.

Quite an irritating night's sleep: was dreaming about flying to Japan (WTF? me? very unlikely), woke at 04:00, sleep took forever to return even after reading more about Crazy Horse & Custard, only to find it was suddenly 08:45.

Lunch: brunch. This seems to be working as regards losing a bit of weight, which is good.

Shopping trip to Boots (didn't have wot I wanted) and Morrisons (didn't have the bread I wanted but found sommat else that'll do), discovered on returning that I'd failed to lock the back door, in fact hadn't even really closed it properly on the latch. The brain rot is plainly progressing well.

Freecell score: 75%, running average: 80%.

Tea: soup etc.

Entertainment: thing about Rudolph Hess: no particular conclusion reached: did he jump or was he pushed etc.

Oak Island bollox: some nutter goes down the garden shaft. Will it be the Next Fatality that precedes the finding of the gold? And, at this late date, does anyone give a tulip? Just askin' like.

As it transpired the going down the hole is next week: this week was taken up with the metal detecting moron's latest discovery and some old nail they found in the "well" they discovered last week. Some mud was removed from the garden shaft but the water level is about 10 feet down so what the feck they'll see is moot.

Boring programme about Ye Greate Floode of 1607 in Ye Bristol Channel. Simon Haslett was in it again, though this one looked at Ye Floode from Ye Devon side of Ye Channel, rather than Ye Gwent Levels like wot ye previous prog did.

I wonder if the next door but one family have moved out. They've been there since 2011 and were certainly there a fortnight ago. Never said anything the last time I spoke to him. Odd.
