Opticians visit took 2 hours yesterday! Mum needs both reading and distance glasses due to encroaching cataracts. She says her eyesight is fine but she struggled to read the extra large lines on the chart. Much deterioration in 2 years. My brother will have the joys of her learning to cope with the new prescription next week.

It’s a grey and drizzly start to the day, though that isn’t deterring the birds - our resident magpie couple were down on the lawn earlier, and now there are three crows, possibly parents with a juvenile (or probably adolescent in crow years). The rain is expected to taper off towards lunchtime and it should brighten up around teatime. Currently 14°C, it’s only expected to reach 18°, and the barometers are down to 996/1004mB

Meanwhile on the 3rd of April 2020, between 22:12 and 23:35, Brillo, Churchill, LM, MrMarkyMark, NF, WTFH, and I popped in, whilst on the 4th of April 2020, between 03:42 and 04:17, NF popped in.

Entertainment: Jack Hargreaves Old Country (1985): John Holmes (not that one) washing sheep to make them clean & tidy for appearing on tv or competing in a local show. Whittling sticks: impressive stick with all sorts of things shown on it from rats and butterflies to bottles of Guinness and farmers with fat bellies. Taking a ride in a horse & one of his Battlesden carts through the woods to look at blue bells, then on the lane to look at white parsley, then it's yellow oilseed rape, followed by the most striking blue of flax (which I've only ever seen once somewhere between Monmouth & Ross on Wye). Apparently oilseed rape was A New Thing at the time.

Walk (abbreviated, 3 miles) walked in the grey gloom with the sun barely visible.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Dashcam bollox S3 E7. There are some spectacularly incompetent drivers out there.

I finished Pixie tonight, in which she completed the Tarot designs (for which she was paid very little by Waite, considering it took her six months) and various other aspects of her life worked out well

chrome was 405 for me most of saturday (or was it friday?), then it worked again.

Tonight in Pixie, her artistic career is looking up after several years of struggle, with an exhibition of her “music paintings” (she had synæsthesia so would listen to music and draw the visions it evoked) selling well at Stieglitz’s gallery in New York
