    uhhh no

it's february and our consumption from the grid, for example yesterday is 11.8 / 0.3 going to be for yesterday 1/39th of what it would have been without the panels

    do the maths

difficult to swallow I know, and that's how it is

rough calculations from the performance we are seeing this month look like pay back will be 5 years

    anyway,

it doesn't matter does it lol

    Milan.

p.s. and don't worry about the garden, plenty more space where that came from

so you get your money back after 12 years and 50 SqM of your garden's a disaster area for that time.

units are fine I just lazily didn't have the h on the end

all good the panels are amazing

WTFH is spot on with the calculations

    yesterday the inverter produced 45kwh

    the house used 11.80kwh

batteries were topped up with 6.8kwh

we sent back to the grid 33.50kwh

and we took from the grid 0.3kwh

    what's not to like

    much awesomeness

    Milan.

Because there's a difference between kW and kWh.

Edit: 24 x 490W panels = 11,784W. For UK calculations of approximate output, you'd multiply that by 3 this time of year, so in a day it would be about 35kWh generated. In summer you'd multiply by 5.

Yes you'll see a big increase in Spring, Summer. My panels produce around 5kw / day in January, February but in summer can go over 20kw / day but average around 17kw / day in May and June. With the max FIT's I get as an early adopter that pays for all energy costs in the year, including oil and logs for the boiler and stove

since the end of january our daily consumption from the grid is averaging 1/5 of daily home consumption

they've been operational since the end of January

    24 panels 11.8kw total capacity

evening on cloudy days, because they are in one line 50metres with no obstruction, south facing, on cloudy days they are filling the batteries

a tiny bit of clear sky between the clouds and they running at full capacity

three days ago we sent 30kw to the grid

    Milan.

Get an electric car as a run around and only ever charge it at home. How many panels have you got and how much land are they taking up? 30kw in winter is quite some output or is that peak summer? We've had our panels 15 years now and they're still going strong with last year the best on record, but on the south facing roof I can only fit 8 panels and garden isn't big enough and has a tall wall and trees around it anyway.

before the lecky car though, we will get a 300l electric boiler installed

that'll use some of the over capacity and reduce the gas bill

well, if your neighbours have panels then ask what performance they are getting

our panels are in the garden, and facing south with no obstructions and the performance from them is first class, we are sending 15 to 30kw to the grid each day because we don't have enough storage capacity

    which begs the question

    perish the thought

an electric car might be a no brainer

Hmmm. Didn't think SPs would be worth it as my house is overshadowed by the big Victorian house next door but maybe worth a new look.
