Not used this lot in ages but for new gig needed to go from home to local train station 3.2 miles.

Uber wanted £28.50!

Local cab firm did it for £7.80

Haven't needed to blag a favour in a long time but when I have, I tend to offer a few bob or buy a bottle of something. When HWMBO's ex lent me her car while she was away and I was visiting, I made sure the tank was full when I gave it back even though I barely drove it.

Taxi drivers get a couple of quid tip, more if I'm drunk.

If it's my brother then he gets feck all. Similarly, he wouldn't think to offer me anything.

Sometimes take my elderly neighbors to places, usually doctor or hospital, and they always insist on paying me as they don't like to feel they are a burden.

How much do you spend on lifts?

I am big believer in crossing someone's palm when they offer a lift. I can't stand it when people that can't drive ask for lifts like it's their god given right and don't appreciate it takes the drivers time and money, especially if the driver is just taking them for a favour. It becomes such a way of life they forget every one is a favour.

I'll offer petrol/electric money or if it's one of the lads or something payment will be offered in the form of beer, always followed up if accepted. I don't get a lot of lifts so different to say how much I spend. I'll say about £10 and a pint a month.
