As a temporary measure. Which they've always been able to do. In any case, when Britain was part of the EU there were passport controls and freedom of movement wasn't threatened at all.

Schengen isn't just EU, and isn't part of freedom of movement. You have the right documents, then on your way, thank you sir.

Too little too late. Anyone with a hole in their bum should have seen this coming. You didn't need to be a far right militant type to see this was going to be a problem. It's simply a matter of scale. Open the borders and everyone will come and it's as simple as that but no one dared speak up or move to action it until it either becomes a very real problem or enough people get angry and it becomes a voting issue.

IMO this is just the start of a lot of trouble. I bet, if you jump forward 5 years or less, most countries will have very strong policies in place backed up by very angry populace that wouldn't we wouldn't have dreamed off a few years ago.

Stricter measures to deal with a large number of migrants arriving in Germany have been agreed by the chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and state leaders, as NGOs criticised Italy’s plans to create centres in Albania to accommodate asylum seekers.

After a marathon session of talks in Berlin that continued into the early hours of Tuesday, Scholz said the measures would help speed up asylum procedures, restrict social benefits for migrants, and provide more federal funding for local communities.

A bleary-eyed Scholz said the decisions amounted to a “historic moment” for the country, even as members of the Greens, part of the coalition government, said that cutting social benefits equated to letting asylum seekers live in poverty.
So is it shocking that one of the cornerstones of the EU is being scrapped?

Ok they haven't scrapped the NAAFI or the political wing yet.

I just love laughing at the wail haters denying the obvious truth. It comes out sooner or later and you all wriggle on the hook.

I find it amusing that your first reference for honest reporting is the Slaver!
