£26 - 31k according to Go-Ahead, who are one of the largest service providers:

Starting salaries of £500 per week (£26,000 per annum for drivers starting on our entry grade) rising to over £31,000 per annum with service related increases.

We have no car parking at our garages, so you must be able to demonstrate your ability to commute by public transport to your requested location, bearing in mind that the job involves working shifts when public transport can be limited at certain times of the day.

To its credit, the Fail online did mention IR5 explicitly in another article on this.

Also, in a couple of their articles I've commented, FWIW, that the shortage is nothing to do with Brexit or Covid but is entirely down to IR35 (and the comments gained dozens of likes, so people are aware of IR35!). For all its faults, the Mail Online has millions of readers, so it's worth getting the message out as best one can.

Oh it had something to do with Brexit when we stopped abusing Eastern European drivers and the rest of Europe had a shortage they went home or to drive in Germany etc. Brexit did free people from low paid wages which is why the slavers are sad.

They have been driving down wages for years and outsourcing agencies to avoid benefits, they then used EU drivers to undercut existing drivers so when Covid sent everyone back to their parent countries for COVID they decided to not come back because there is no money to be made here.
