let us hope but we are on the way to 8 billion, there will be people who need more than their environment can supply and as they become more wealthy they will want more resources. Subsistence living raids the planet far less than steak & chips.

The population in Western countries is decreasing as the birth rate is falling so it won't be a problem.Originally posted by vetran View Post
Israel has been doing it for years

The Australians don't have a lot of terrorism.
if we are going to allow population to grow we have to rethink where the necessities for life will come from.
If more girls are educated and given access to birth control in developing African and Asian countries their populations will decrease as well. Bangladesh is an example of this where the birth rate was 3.17 per woman in 2000 and 2.06 in 2017.

look at what Israel has done.
War, pestilence and famine are the usual suspects.
Famine is likely the poorer nations want to eat a western diet. War over food and land to grow it will follow.
We have had SARs, Swine flu, bird flu and covid plenty more to come.

Nonsense.Originally posted by Mordac View Post
That makes a lot of sense. The global population was about 4 billion in the mid 1970's and will hit 8 billion within this decade. At that rate it won't be climate change that will kill us off, we'll have all starved to death long before that happens.
Just remember "Soylent Green is People!".

Yum.

Funny thing is that its perfectly reasonable to suggest that couples attempting to conceive lay off the sauce. They should also mention avoiding drugs and marrying your cousin (or living in Norfolk).
