Boris Johnson is under pressure to clarify details of a Sunday bike ride seven miles from his Downing Street residence after No 10 refused to say whether he was driven there.

Parkgoers spotted Johnson cycling in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park in Stratford, east London, along with his security detail, at about 2pm on Sunday.

A Downing Street source said the prime minister was exercising within the rules but would not give further details as to whether Johnson cycled from his Westminster residence or was transported there by car.

“The PM follows Covid-secure guidelines. It does not say in the regulations that driving somewhere to take exercise is a breach of the rules. That is not a comment on the PM’s case but the rules only say remain local,” the source said. "

    Yes, that's the Boris Clause...

Since nobody's actually helped Boris with a list of parks which are closer to SW1 than Stratford, I'll start with a few:
    St James's Park
    Green Park
    Hyde Park
    Regents Park
Battersea Park (if he doesn't mind going south of the river)
Quite possibly Greenwich Park, although that's tough on a bike.

    Any more?

He's very good at claiming and naming the last administration's successes after himself, yet leaves behind tulip when he leaves.

Anyone for some water cannon? Or would you like a garden bridge?

    Kind of.

Boris Johnson left hanging on zip wire during Olympic event

At least given his form no-one can say calling him Bozo (as in the clown) is a derogatory term.

    5KM from home

You'll have to use km to nearest integer but 5 miles approximates neatly to 8km.

The old man uses it to make sure he's not encroaching on Big Shirley's patch.

Common sense to drive somewhere nearby that may be quieter than local paths and parks, for exercise.

So for once I hope they use bozo to prove the logic and not as a scapegoat for dumb rule tightening that will not have any impact on the spread of covid. The only risk driving somewhere is if car breaks down or have an accident and require assistance from people you would otherwise not be in contact with.

Time those making the rules or providing guidance saw the bigger picture and not relied on their single braincell decisions.

If they fail to do the decent thing then we'll need an app that gives updates on local plod roadblocks or stop and search (for evidence of picnics) so we can bypass any covidiots in charge to get to a safe space.
