I have. First hand friends who suspect that a significant percentage of people were out clapping largely to be seen to be out clapping.

Feel free. Go find some NHS workers and give them some cash,Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostCan't we give them a pay rise instead?
Have you asked them? I've never seen an NHS worker say they find public support patronising.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostCompletely pointless and patronising....

NHS workers were low paid in the first place.Originally posted by PCTNN View PostI admire nhs workers who have been all under a lot of stress and have done an incredible job so I'm all in favour of a pay rise for them.
Having said that, nhs workers have all been in full employment, so they had their salaries come in every end of the month. If the government is distributing money, maybe they should prioritise giving it to all those people who have been out of a job instead and got financially hit by the pandemic more heavily than nhs workers. Like...retail/hospitality they need financial support as well and more than the nhs workers.
Come on, a bit of socialism here?
IMO end lockdown and put all the furlough money into the nhs.

I will clap when BJ announces a 50% bonus to all the nurses and doctors who worked through the pandemic. But he wont and he will award performance bonuses to the useless managers who are WFH and generate spread sheets day in and day out.

Snap, however you could always go out and play a bit of Death Metal on the Ukulele, that should get the neighbours going...Originally posted by cojak View PostI'm doing my bit by not stepping out of the house and not having anyone visit me.
I'm not clapping with all the hypocrites in the street.
