Not any more - out of the blue they parachuted in some Indian guy into the programme management team who proceeded to undermine everyone & a lot of the female middle management resigned as he was such a misogynist.

Next thing he's put in charge & he calls all the shots on recruitment. And you can guess where all his bods come from

If I said to look at the ownership of the recruitment agency and kickbacks would that help....

The output is utter tulipe, but the users don't pay the IT costs, so the top management don't care. Money saved goes on short term bonuses for the board.

Contractor roles are getting more & more scarce with lot of people in market. The balance is not there. Clients have become more & more choosy, n number of interview rounds, they are demanding more skills & domain expertise...

Will this market slowly die out...turning out not worth the hassle due to such tough conditions?
I thought off-shoring was reducing these days, or at least stabilising... the huge rush to outsource everything was a few years ago and contracting survived.

Is it possible that each market has its own dynamics due to different supply and demand conditions?

Are there any useful generic conclusions to be drawn?

If your skills are cr*p then no you won't find work.

Also the likes of the large consultancies actually hire contractors.

A lot of my work has been through consultancies. The issue that a few clients have had is team cohesion. So they hire you for your personal skills rather than ability just to do the work.
